Assuming no injuries, with the huge money spent the roster and also the staff, I'm in the 12+ wins camp.  I wouldn't really call that an expectation, but anything less and what hope I have left for CDD will mostly be gone.

All the roster concerns people have I agree with, but at some point the staff just has to perform with sharp scouting and player dev and find ways to overcome the weaknesses people see.

I'm really just looking for a six seed and one tourney win at a minimum.  That's not crazy for the money put into IUBB.  Then retain the roster, add a few key guys, and think big in season three.

Okay well good for you haha. Just calling it like I see it as things stand today.

I understand being pessimistic given what we've had to endure for over 25 years.  I just think we're finally turning a corner.

Looking at the conference schedule, what do you figure the W/L will be?

I agree with most that this looks like a really favorable schedule. We'll see when the conference rolls around but in a way too early look I would guess we have a decent shot at 12 - 8 or maybe 13 - 7 at a quick look-see. Hope this gives us a chance to surprise me myself and I.

If we can't go at least 12-8 with this schedule then we should just leave the conference.

Sure hope so.

We have only had better than a .500 conf record once in the last ten years.

Since going to the natty with Davis IU has had better than a .500 conf record only 8/24 seasons.       That gruesome span includes Davis’s last two seasons of 10-6 and 9-7 and Sampson’s only two seasons of 10-6 and 14-4 (.man, he would have won banners)

The average ‘expert’ projection of our conference record will probably be 11-9.

If there are realistic expectations then the fanbase won’t be pissed at the results.

Winning 12 big 10 games with this group is going to be an achievement.

That'd be tied for our best conference record over the last decade so I'm not saying that in a disparaging way.

12-8 was the fifth best conference W/L record last year (not good for fifth in conference standings because of ties), fourth the year before that, third the year before that, and second the year before that.

I just want to see IUBB win 20+ games and a first round tournament game for a change of pace.

I know that the conflict with the Colts game the same day necessitated a move. The NFL rules in this situation but had hoped that a Saturday or different Sunday could be scheduled. In my opinion a Friday night game doesn't bode as well for attendance. If we were back in the hey day of the rivalry it wouldn't matter a bit but neither program is on par with those days so we'll see. It's still Kentucky but just seems that the rivalry has lost some luster. Hoping that I am wrong.

This makes me wonder if we'll have any big-time December Saturday/weekend games or if those will just be wasted? Syracuse on a Monday in Indy, UK on a Friday night during IHSAA football semistate.... just seems bizarre.

Horrendous Assembly Hall schedule this year if it's only filled out with buy games. Even when you add in the December B1G game, that'll probably be Northwestern or Rutgers because that game always seems to be against a "non-marquee" opponent.

I read somewhere it's easier to funnel proceeds from offsite games to NIL compared to home games.  That could be true and I don't know if that's playing a role here.

I certainly don't like college sports played offsite, with obvious rare exceptions like Red River or IU/UK with the 50/50 split.  College sports are so much worse in sterile pro venues compared to unique and lively on campus games.

The IU crowds in Indy haven't been great lately.  I really wish we would schedule big non-con games at AH.  Ya know, where the school and its students are located.  We built a big weird arse arena for this.

Just by looking at ticket prices I assumed last years Lvill basketball game/IU football B1G championship was a pretty successful weekend for IU fans.

And I personally always liked the old RCA Dome/Freedom Hall IU v UK series. But I agree with your overall sentiment. We need more great home games. If they expand the CFB playoffs hopefully it will mean the first two rounds on campus.

Its not lost on me the irony of college sports supposedly having an atmosphere advantage over pro sports but pro sports largely play their playoffs and championships at home stadiums while college sports offload everything to a neutral site.

I'd be fine with a thinner non-conference home slate if they hadn't jacked the season ticket prices up so much this year. But it's hard to swallow that along with every good game being neutral court.

I’m on the waitlist, so I doubt I’ll even have the option, but season tickets just don’t seem like a good deal given the weak slate/uncertainty over the team. I’d rather take the money I’d spend on season tickets and go to the local Indy games plus a few good home ones.

IU men's basketball will be playing a huge, expanded schedule.  Starting July 18 - 28 in Peru, and then 20 games in conference...   Was thinking about getting the team through the gauntlet, might just help to come back with some Peruvian Marching Powder.

Yee gads there are some dog home games in AH.  Coach DD is quoted this week discussing the slide to schedule more games at neutral sites to help with NIL.

Getting tickets for 4 in Indy against pUKe seems like an idea.   I'm setting up a GoFundMe site...
