I’m legit afraid we will do that to Howard.

I'm not an IUFB SOS hater by any means, but there are a bunch of D2 teams that would give us a better look than that Howard squad.

In fact, 14 D2 teams finished ahead of Howard in Bill Connelly's SP+ metric last year. At the same time, Howard finished 15 spots ahead of Indiana State.

I’m totally ok with a tune up set of games.  Now if we keep Hoover two years I would like to think we go a little harder and get somebody mildly legit in 2027 if there’s still time

OOC is set through 2030, with 2031 being our next open spot. We could always buy out but I doubt it happens. Cignetti seems to like the tune up games. We add more wins and can get starters more rest, but with a slight chance that the SOS would hurt us in the playoff debate. Seems to be a risk we are willing to take.

These games are sometimes still flexible if we want to make a change there is just a cost.  But I agree. I like our strategy.  We already have a tough game scheduled for 2030 so cream puffs await.

That being said I wouldn’t mind screwing Notre Dame and backing out

FCS, right?

I will say-- for all the complaints of the OOC last year--- Old Dominion finished ahead of a whole HOST of P4 schools-- Purdue, Northwestern, Wake Forest, Cinci, Arkansas, NC State, Miss St, Kansas, AZ ST, Florida, Boise St, Kentucky, Minnesota, Baylor, Rutgers, Maryland, Cal, UCF, Mich St, Wisconsin, UNC, WVU, BC, UCLA, Stanford, OK ST, Colorado, VT, Syracuse...

Kennesaw St finished ahead of Purdue, UNC, WVU, Colorado, BC, UCLA, VT, Syracuse, Stanford, OKST....

If we would have came into last season with.....

NC State+Virginia Tech-- on our schedule instead of OD+KS people would have been singing our praises, when in REALITY... the teams we played were BETTER, albeit, don't have national recognition. Sportswriters that have no clue, mostly.

I thought Hoover was a fifth-year senior this year?  Wasn't aware he had more eligibility beyond this season.

Guess it all depends on how that 5th year thing they are planning on announcing.

He played in one game and didn’t burn a year in 2023.  Are they going to retroactively say that yes he did indeed burn a year?

He doesn't.

Ahhhh... yeah, I mean, if they allow SRs into that, then yes, he would. I didn't think they were going to.

I believe they said that the 5th year would not retroactively apply to anyone already in college. Only to incoming freshmen.

I think it’s still tbd and let’s be honest it’s what what a judge decides
