Stuhoo Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Current Tickpick stats about the purchase locations for the game? 33% in Florida. 22% in Indiana. Now I suppose there are a few IU fans in Florida, but i would expect the crowd to be 40-50% IU and 50-60% Miami. Pagoda 1 Quote

You have to think IU has the advantage in almost every other state purchasing tickets considering our Alumni base is 4x that of Miami. Id expect 50/50 to be close to the final result. Those TickPick stats are likely majority from the ~20,000 non school allotment that the CFP controls. IU fans don't have their tickets yet and I don't believe all of Miami's allotment has gone out either. J34, skhoosier2 and Stuhoo 3 Quote

Id expect 50/50 to be close to the final result. The point about other, non-Florida/Indiana out-of-staters is excellent and sound logic - far sounder logic than my first blush/on its face conclusion. Gotta be 60%+ from non-Florida states for IU. And 45% of current sales have been to non Florida/Indiana customers. If we continue to fill 22% of the 55% of total tickets sold to the two 'school states', that's 40% of those, or 40% of 35,750 seats. That equals 14,300 Hoosier fans. Combine that with 65% of the remaining states. 65% of the remaining 29,250 seats equals 19,012 more IU fans. 19,012 + 14,300 total estimated IU fans equals 33,312 IU fans, so If 65% of the non 'school state' fans are IU fans, the current estimate is just over 51% of the stadium rooting for IUFB. If 60% of the non 'school state' fans are IU fans, that would put the stadium at almost an exact 50/50 split. tyappleg and hper50 2 Quote
Stuhoo Posted January 13 Posted January 13 This Miami board thread is really interesting. In short? Their ticket distribution system is a complete technical hot mess. More importantly? As @Hovadipo intimated previously, their priority system not only allowed 2026 season ticket purchasers or recent NIL contributors (which IU fans could be) to get into the queue, the system apparently prioritized 2026 season ticket purchasers over 2025 season ticket purchasers. So IU fans that were wise enough to back into a CFP ticket by buying a UMiami 2026 ticket for cheap have done hit da jackpot. https://www.canesinsight.com/threads/dear-um-ticket-office.205738/ 8bucks, skhoosier2, ALASKA HOOSIER and 3 others 2 4 Quote

And for the NIL avenue? The number of Canes Club collective members more than doubled in the last three days. Got a feeling that wasn't Canes fans. It always has been, and always will be. Think of it this way: Would you put money down on Miami over Indiana if we gave you 7.5 points? What about 8.5 points? What's the point (no pun intended) where you would be willing to shift your bet from one team to the other? 68Hoosier and Stuhoo 2 Quote

Yeah, I am not a better so know nothing about the odds or Vegas stuff. I just figure the lines follow Vegas and they don't like to lose money. Quote

The theory from Canes is that Vegas is trying to psyche bettors into betting on Indiana by making it look like Indiana is so much better than the Canes because they know the Canes are the better team and Vegas has to recoup the money lost from doubting the Canes in the first three CFP games. Of course, the same people think Canes coaching staff are utterly destroying the team's chances next year by not prioritizing a QB in the portal but also the Canes coaching staff has put together a game plan that Indiana has no chance of overcoming, so I'm not sure they've got a real brain trust going over there. jermhoosierfan, ALASKA HOOSIER and skhoosier2 3 Quote
Dave from Dayton Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Remembering that just before the last major hurricane, there was a bar dedicated to Hoosier sports in Fort Myers Beach. It was called Hoosiers. Imagine that! Went in there more than a couple of times with a good friend that cheered for OSU and IU. Was great sharing with all of the Hoosier fans we met. Some really knew their history and basketball. Point is, there are lots of Hoosiers down in FL right now...commuting to the bowl game is like walking from Briscoe to the stadium. This game will be glorious! And then some. So very screaming pumped... May have to do the pub crawl through the sports bars locally just to test the crowds....in SE Dayton OH. I already have a designated driver. And a plan. Will end up at my place, Old Fart....BYO. And you have to put down a damage deposit. Bring your date, she is cool. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge. eddy4iu 1 Quote
