To me, it looks like we still have two holes to fill — Center and Mike LB. I haven’t seen any names linked to either position other than Owen Long, who we missed out on.

Has anyone seen any other names being discussed for either spot?

Long would have been excellent at the Mike. We may still try to bring in someone, but doesn't appear to be incredibly high priority. I read this as Isaiah Jones filling the Mike role with Hardy playing the Will. If we bring in any LB, this could obviously be shifted around. We could use a little extra LB depth. If not, I could see us running more base nickel as our secondary depth is getting stacked in the portal.

As far as Center, availability in the portal for the position is low. If Leibfried is ready, he can step into the role. If not, we appear to be solid with Guard Joe Brunner from Wisconsin. Bray Lynch slides to Center, and Evans and Brunner start at Guard.

Seems like a pretty big ask for a kid with suspect wheels post-injury.

Yep.  Although I saw somebody else that UK signed and my gut was high risk high reward.  Guess coaches might try a bunch of those because if they hit a bunch they could have a miracle season and try and replicate cig a bit.

Rankings are what they are, but Shazz was the 56th ranked player in the national composite coming out. That’s gotta be the highest ranked guy we’ve ever had in Bloomington unless I’m forgetting a transfer. I know EJ Williams was pretty high.

And what’s crazier is that he had 4 career catches in 3 years prior to this years breakout season. Good on him for putting it together.

What’s the plan for LT assuming Smith declares? Guessing Ajani moves to RT?

People are overplaying that. Cig wants 4 he can play.

Oh I agree Cig wants 4. I was more speaking on the players not being satisfied and looking elsewhere if they are 3 or 4 on the depth chart.

Ajani at RT would be the next logical step, I think. Some others have mentioned reaching out to several OT (Mikey Bennett from Yale). Some chatter about a big NIL deal for Smith to return, but he is skyrocketing up draft boards so idk if that holds.

Yep my thoughts too. Sorry to see guys entering. I thought they had time after our season to get into the portal.

Portal closes Friday, but IU and Miami players will have a few days after the game to enter.  Unfortunately, the problem for the players is that decisions are already being made.  So if you stick with your team until the end (like we have been taught -- see things thru, be a good teammate, etc.), you likely lose opportunities.  Shame on the adults who are running this chit.

Thanks for the info. I wasn’t sure what the portal dates were for guys still playing in the natty.

Indiana OL Mitch Verstegen has entered the transfer portal, @PeteNakos reports. The 6-foot-4, 305-pound OL has three years of eligibility remaining.

He announced this last week:

Dontrae Henderson in the portal. Just from a numbers standpoint, that safety room is getting cleaned out.

It appears someone related to Boyd commented under this as a poster said who leaves the team before a natty that is so dumb.  She commented 'know the facts before you make a statement like this'.  Her last name is Boyd and she has reposted other things related to Jah.  Could be mother idk.  We have no idea what is going on behind the scenes so really whatever our opinions are the best thing to do publicly on socials is to wish the guys well.
