He was pretty much literally the only potential returnee that was disloyal to the fired coaching staff.

Yeah, given the circumstances here you could argue that he’s de facto transferring without having to move his crap.

He clearly chose to shut it down rather than playing mop up minutes for our **** show last season.

Watch this interview and tell me that he isn’t a cut above in maturity for an 18-year-old:

I'm going to continue to "pump" Bryson should have RS. Idc about any outside factors other than his body, his game...

What he needed was to play against, all year long in practice, was a well coached TG, Rice, Kanaan, Leal, and others... again, a well coached team..

Those mins in practice, those reps, those "slowed-down" teachings would have DWARFED the measly 380 mins of game action he saw.

Tucker was basically left for dead on the bench.  We pretty much had him first in the portal 60 seconds before the final buzzer of the final game.  Then someone tweeted he's was in the portal and his dad said "slow down" champ.  And here we are with him not in the portal at this point.  I am thinking CDD gave him something to think long and hard about.

Could be that Tucker gave CDD something to think about as well. ... I have no knowledge of anything, but I wouldn't be surprised if CDD told the others (Rice, Carlyle, Reneau, Bako) it would be in their best interests to hit the portal. Again, I know nothing ... but the fact that Tucker hasn't gone portaling yet leads me to believe there's perhaps a smidge of mutual interest in him staying.

That having been said, the odds are still against his return

I tend to forget how young he is. Pretty sure he hit campus for summer workouts last year at 17.

I would think B Tucker would be looking for a mins guarantee and I don’t see DeVries giving that.  If they both come to an agreement and he decides to stay, great.  I would like to see what a new staff can get out of him.

I really don't think that a minutes guarantee is a real thing at P5 programs.

BTuck is not in the portal yet - he's the only one.

Every day that goes by is good news. If it goes for another week I'm going to start to be pretty optimistic here.

What is Dallas James story?  I literally know nothing about the guy. Who is he?

Good student and dad was a friend of Woody's from the Knicks, so he got a free year of the empty scholly to be a practice player last year.

Made Tijan and Priller look like dominant players.

He will not be back.

Guy Woodson brought in last year. He was a bench warmer at South Carolina State then transferred to IU. He wasn't expected to get minutes and that turned out to be the case (0 minutes played). His dad was in the NBA so I'm guessing Woodson brought him in as a favor to the dad.

I would argue that when you bring in a highly rated 5 star that you have a role and playing time in mind and don't recruit over that player. IU brought in several portal players after Tucker committed.  Woodson had no idea of roster construction.  He just brought in talent without any clue how the pieces would fit.

I’m only worried about our top 7-8 players for next year. Looking at the teams that played in the S16 they are playing 7-8 players.

we will need to land a PG better than Enright to get where we want to go. I’m wanting a Dusty May level year 1. The resources are there. Build the team. Stay healthy.

Seems about right.  I think we would be able to shoot that thing.  Not sure that team defends worth a hoot though.

I'm not too worried about that.  West Virginia was ranked 15th defensively and I wouldn't say that had great defensive talent.
