Class of '66 Old Fart

IUBB @ Nebraska - Friday, 12.13.24 @ 8:00 ET on Fox TV

Feels like a game that will alter the trajectory of the season. I was at the game Monday and felt like there was some encouraging signs. Love what I’m seeing from Ballo, Carlyle stepped up while Rice and Galloway struggled. Goode’s leadership is evident every time he’s on the floor. Thought Woodson utilized timeouts very well when things were getting sloppy. I think we go out and get a win Friday.

I don’t think Woodson is the guy and I know the competition hasn’t been good the last 4 games, but there are some signs that this could still be a really solid year and I think we start to see more of that this Friday.

The schedule really doesn't get hard til mid January. Not sure a game vs a likely bottom half big ten team tells us the trajectory of the season. Playing the likes of teams like michigan and purdue will.

I agree a victory doesn't say much, but a loss though . . .

It's kind of demoralizing to see Nebraska on the schedule and expect a L.

It's Nebraska, random average team.

I tend to expect a L, on the road, they're undefeated at home and we were so terrible against Ville and Gonzaga.

Can't wait until Woodson is gone and we have a coach I believe in again, running modern basketball schemes, not living in his own decades old world of no longer relevant ball.

I expect the phrase "it's hard to win on the road in the Big Ten" to come up multiple times in post game comments, and the phrase has undoubtedly been making the rounds among people close to our program this week.

Knowing this, the players will subconsciously convince themselves it's too hard to win this game, and that will be reflected in their performance. In other words, the kind of stuff you typically get from a program with a poor culture like ours.

It will either be that or we are back baby and headed for the final four

Have we ever won at Nebraska when they were good, or even average? I remember winning there when Crean had the stare-down with Tim Miles, and I think Archie managed to get a win when Nebraska was so bad it would have been a season-killing loss, but I don't recall any others.

For some reason I think we win close or get blown out. I will have to watch the first 4 minutes to really gauge what it will be. IU on paper should be win this game…. But this is the “IU” of today so who knows.
