Dave from Dayton Posted October 1, 2024 Posted October 1, 2024 Not too surprised... IU football WR Donaven McCulley enters transfer portal midseason (indystar.com) Good luck! RaceToTheTop, DChoosier and J34 2 1 Quote
IUFootballHappyHappyJoyJoy Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 I got a feeling he's going to try and get a spot on Penn State. He seemed to give Curt the benefit of the doubt but Cignetti felt he wasn't good enough to play, so he's just going to head on over to Tom Allen. Quote
dwtaylor1055 Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 the staff brought in talent at his spot. Either McCulley couldn't leap from who came in or he's had a change of heart (this would be a big surprise considering how the team has been the last two years with McCulley on IU vs this year). Lebowski Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 Best of luck to him. He was one of the bright spots during one of the worst offenses IUFB has ever had. It's unfortunate it didn't work for both parties and I truly hope he finds a place where he's able to continue to grow not only as a player but as a human being as well. OGIUAndy Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 I think it sucks that he's leaving but man, what timing. 5-0, ranked, bowl eligible with one more win (most likely will get a good bowl), scored his first TD, team might be in the CFB Playoff hunt? Seems like a dumb time to bolt, but I guess most of this is "business" and he had to enter before he played too much more to keep a year of eligibility. But going through the last couple of seasons, you'd think he would be starved to win. His contributions and playing time most likely would have increased as the BIG schedule continued, also wasn't he hurt? I don't like to rip players at all but some of the Allen guys come off as soft or at least the optics are that. cthomas, thebigweave and J34 3 Quote
cthomas Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 The CCC way may not be for everyone. Especially players used to the old way. Cig is a coach, Allen was a cheerleader. I hate it when things don't work out with local kids but this is probably more on him than the staff. Hope he finds what he is looking for. ALASKA HOOSIER, Dave from Dayton and J34 3 Quote

rcbowla Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 Kid wants to play on Sundays and he has the physical traits to do that. He was not going to obtain that goal playing >10% snaps this season. He made the right choice for him and I hope he finds success elsewhere. Quote
Hovadipo Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 Kinda weird how much his career has mirrored Donavan Hale’s. Big, athletic QB turned WR on some terrible teams that had a coaching change and became a good team. Difference being Hale stayed at IU for the duration obviously. Quote
