No, I'm just getting really pi$$ed off at so many people continuing to whine about NIL money and players getting paid.  This isn't anything unique to IU.  Pandora's box has been opened so get over it.  Rabby said today we are rumored to have the largest NIL in the B1G by a decent margin over Illinois.  Some of you should be thankful that we still have donors willing to make significant NIL contributions after this past season and with a general lack of optimism for next season.  

Let's let Cupps, Leal, Gallo, Malik and Bako go because we won't pay them what somebody else might.  And any argument that we paid too much isn't worth anything because none of us know for certain what they might have gotten elsewhere.  And let's have our NIL fund fall into the lower half of the B1G.  Now what kind of a team are you going to buy in the portal?  And that's what it's become we're buying a team.  The question is what kind of a team do you want to buy?

Class of '66 Old Fart is about as spot on as you can get here. This program for this next year is about fielding the best they can put together from retaining their own and the portal. Glad Malik is back. Lots of work to be done in securing more players.

But can we complain about who we pay? Some people might think why over pay for a guy who kind of plays selfish. Doesn’t pass well, can’t handle the ball, doesn’t rebound well for his size. I thought we could find a guy like him in the portal and safe money for guards. But that’s me, I don’t make the rules.

When the donors stop meddling with the program then we'll be thankful for their donations.  But never until.

"We" don't pay anybody.  Donors do.  If it's your money, say where you want it to go.  If it's not, then no.

And what happens if you can't land a guy like him in the portal or the guards whom you've chosen to save money for decide to go elsewhere? A bird in hand is better than two in the bush...

I think there could be better players in the portal but if MR would have chose to leave and I was a portal kid thinking of Indiana I would be less interested if their better players left. At least with MR you know what his weaknesses are. Portal guys all we see are scoring highlights and numbers. Now, I do share concerns that the inability to see the double team coming and pass out of it may remain a big issue. If he fixes that and we get shooters to pass to, things could work nicely

Fans pay for NIL. Fans alone almost raised a million dollars when Cigs was hired. I try to give when I can to NIL, buy players gear, support their meals at restaurant. So my opinion doesn’t matter because I didn’t donate a million dollars? Maybe I don’t trust the people handling out the money. I’m a pretty good Fantasy Football GM. :-) I just need a chance.

But your whole assumption is that we overpaid and you don't know that.  It's your personal opinion that we could find a guy like him in the portal and save money for guards.  But you don't know that to be true and neither do I.  But if it really makes you feel better to keep complaining go for it.

Just about everything done by the staff/team that looks like a repeat of this year is going to generate legitimate criticism. If we start to see something that might being hope for a better outcome then criticism will slow.

You can complain all day. It's a bit of a crap shoot between retaining and looking for upgrades in the portal. Your point is well taken. But absolutely complain all day is you want. You feel the way you do - and in the end we want all want this program to just be better.

I’m sorry it’s tough for me to blindly follow what this staff is doing and not have some questions. But you are correct we all want what’s best for IU. I hope Reneau is the BTMVP. I easily say I’m wrong. I just have to see it.
