Does this mean we have to play in Mali next year?  LOL

People also ask

Is Mali good for tourists?

MALI - AVOID ALL TRAVEL

Avoid all travel to Mali, including the capital, Bamako, due to the threat of terrorism, kidnapping and banditry. If the security situation in Mali deteriorates, the ability of the Embassy of Canada to Mali in Bamako to provide consular services may be limited.

I live in Evansville and I'll be honest I haven't watched a lot of Aces basketball. I just know their fans were upset to lose him. Really good shooter.

Just a guess Carlyle and Humrichous are our top 2 realistic options right now. After that the majority of your roster is set.

I think Carlyle is a done deal. I would guess Elijah Malone is the next domino to fall.

You sound upset that our NIL collective is helping to attract excellent players. Let me see if I understand:

Now that every big-time power 5 program can afford to pay a ton of money legally to players, you believe we should:

  1. Have a crappy NIL organization that doesn't allow us to pay as much in NIL as other major programs
  2. Use NIL, but lose portal recruiting battles to teams that have just as much money as IU for portal NIL
  3. Have as robust an NIL program as any other team, and use it to attract and get commitments from fantastic players

Feel free to pick any and all of these as your preferred option(s)

You forgot this for Trish:

4. I have doubled and tripled down on Mike Woodson not being able to succeed so the idea of actually having a good team next year scares the crap out of me.

I know others have indicated the same thing about Carlyle.  Why do we feel like he is a done deal.  Just back channel discussions or something else.

What do you see with Malone?

Because there always has to be something to complain about...

Fans been asking to play the game like other blue bloods for 20 years. IU starts playing the game, fans still complain.

Yeesh

Welcome to IU Oumar!

That's not true.  The "bagman fans" wanted to play the game.  The older guys took pride in a relatively "clean" program of the past.  Now that it's in the wide open, it feels a bit "dirty."  Still want guys who play for the name on the front of the jersey.  But it is what it is.  Let's start with making it to the second weekend of the tournament and work from there.

And get off my lawn.

4 spots left, IF we use them all, with who is in the portal right now, walker, essigan, Humrichous, Malone.

but i do not see that happening.

(this is assuming we have Carlyle)

I like Walker and Humrichous for sure.  I think they will be able to help off the bench.

I think every leaf in the forest points to him coming here and he's doing the exact same thing Rice did this last weekend; silently committed awhile ago and is taking his visit to make sure he doesn't absolutely hate the place before making it official.

No intel on Malone other than IU still needs post depth and it's going to be a challenge to find another big with only 10-15 mpg available. Round out the class with Malone and Humrichous and it's likely the best haul you could have asked for.

The talent is there for a Sweet 16 showing IMO. Experienced players and talent, no excuse not to get a Sweet 16.

Which would be awesome. Just want more, as most of you do. I'm ready for IU to go on a nice tournament run. Long due for one.

I have a question. I know that there was an issue with Edey not being able to benefit from NIL, because he's Canadian. How is Ballo able to receive NIL? Isn't he from Mali?

As I understand it, foreign students on student visas can work in the US.  20 hours per week during school and 40 hours per week during breaks.  When these guys do their events, that would equate to be the "working time."  I don't think the law limits the compensation.

Connor Essegian visiting tomorrow.

As a fellow Central Noble graduate, I’d like this a lot. Really good kid. Made no sense to me for him to play in the Wisconsin style offense. He probably picked them out of his other list of suitors because it was the big name school. Obviously don’t expect him to get big minutes with us but to come in and bang in a couple/few Zeisloft/Roth 3’s would be great.

Great get in Ballo. If we're going to play with a traditional 5, may as well grab one of the best in the country.

We've talked a lot this offseason about a potential Reneau-Mgbako frontcourt pairing, and the potential rebounding / defense limitations of that tandem. A Ballo-Mgbako pairing doesn't have that issue - and still spaces the floor for our penetrating guards.

I know the two bigs will play together plenty. But I really hope we also see a fair amount of the Ballo-Mgabko frontcourt.
