It is but almost every school is meeting their ~$20 mil school portion of player payments. Additional money here is coming from NIL. I guess you could argue football winning the title has energized the donor class. Thanks (again) Cig!

Aidan Sherrell probably went to sleep last night knowing he will announce his commitment to IU today and that we're going to pay him close to $4M to do it. Has to be a great feeling.

I am a little concerned about how they would fit together defensively, but Reibe and Sherrell would be tough offensively for other teams to deal with. 

Hall and Clark would be an awesome way to round out the backcourt.

It’s all pretty fungible behind the scenes from what I understand.

Football has absolutely energized the donors.  For example, Cuban only started giving a serious amount because of football.  His now annual donation is not earmarked for football, he said it’s Scott’s call, so a little bit probably gets chipped off for MBB.  I’d guess something like this happens with a lot of donations.

And our athletic dept revenue is up about 50% over the past two years.  It's easier to cover the $21M rev share, which frees up donors on the NIL front, and also there is just more money around that can help some with MBB expenses.  

Pretty cool situation.  I still don't know what we're gonna spend on our MBB roster this year, but it seems like it is going to be more than we thought.

I suspect we spent more last year than most here think. When it turned out we were bad people got demoralized and rationalized that we didn’t spend any money instead of the what likely happened—we spent it unwisely. Maybe we got caught a little flat footed by the increases of everyone else and “only” ended up at say 15th in spend instead of 5th. But that’s not nothing. It’s nice to see them double down and recommit to building this roster the right way. Next year’s portal should see us being way more selective.

He might be too expensive at this point, but I would love to have Budd Clark. Seems like he's got a lot of Enright-chippy pest qualities to him, and Enright would be the perfect backup point on a contending team.

I think if you are choosing between Reibe and Tiller it is almost an offense or defense question.  Tiller and Sherrell would be a pretty imposing front court from a defensive standpoint.  I think they both have over 1 block per game averages.  I think you have to go back to Jefferies and Newton to find a similar one-two defensive punch for us (unless I am missing a pair from the wasteland between here and there).

Thinking that exact thing last night. Enright on this team would be really useful.

I think I prefer Tiller... either way the front court looks massively improved with either + Sherrell

Tiller is 611 in shoes and will drive you nuts. Not a very intense big. 

1 offensive rebound per 10 minutes is a good rule of thumb. 

The other thing with Tiller is that he’s a little bit of a slow processor. He’s kind of a has to see it guy.
