Agree with this.  Prices seem much higher than last year.  How many of the guys we are after use us to drive the price up for places they are more interested in?

I really hope the staff can get it done on some of these guys. We really need to make the tournament this year to repair our name/reputation and build.  

My concern has always been yes we have money and playing time, but what else draws guys here?  Like you said, better first year would have gone a long way.  Hopefully this year with a full staff we can get it done.

Kind of hope IU isn’t in here. Played at Paul VI with Jordan Smith and was a textbook early maturing kid without a ton of projectability. He was really good in HS but it was tough to see how he was gonna get better and he pretty much hasn’t.

Your post confuses me ( that’s OK, I’m old). First part seems to insinuate ‘ too many freshmen/young players’ and second paragraph insinuates ‘ need younger players, not seniors’ so JUNIORS?

I should have worded it better but I was just lamenting that 0 returners inspire any confidence. Alongside the three new kids that’s 7 (now 6) unknowns. And that sucks. 

The only good pieces last year were seniors. Looking through ESPNs too early top 25 it was depressing to see how many good players are scheduled to return for these teams

By "the only good pieces" you mean one player; Lamar Wilkerson.

Others like Enright, Sam, and Tucker played really hard and can leave with their heads held high, but they did not succeed as B1G starters.

I’d have taken Sam back in a heartbeat as a rotational big. All hypotheticals

When do we realistically expect to start seeing commits?  I assume some of these have been talking prior to today but not sure.  Does anyone remember when the big names started dropping last year.

Probably the 9th.  Since that's when the quiet period ends.  Why the quiet period over laps with the portal; I don't know.

Definitely right to assume there's been conversations before today. Haven't heard anything about visits.

Generally, I'd think this weekend visits will start and there will be a wave of commitments.

No.  Pretty sure its just a way for the NCAA to pretend none of that is happening so there aren't 100's of commitments on the opening day of the portal.
