This place will burn to the ground if our first commit is a mid major PF.  Love it.

I'd recommend waiting for the whole portal class to come together before assuming we learned nothing from last year.  But that's just me.

A 6'7 3 point specialist is good to have if that's all your asking of them to do.

If this guy is our 5th or 6th best transfer, I think its perfectly fine. You need shooters. You just dont want him to be a focal point of the class and roster (Bailey).

The scout is more important than the profile. We would all take another Wilkerson. But Conerway, Bailey, and to a slightly lesser extent Devries were all misses. Can’t miss on 3 projected starters no matter where they come from.

But yea…loading up on guys from midmajors again would be funny just from the fans reactions. But one thing this staff can’t do is take that reaction into account. They’d be fools to shy away from a Mid major sleeper they like just because the fans would react poorly.

Hope so, too. Lettice on Twitter is saying done deal, that he cannot do anything but shoot, and don’t expect him to come off the bench. If true, I’m already feeling shaky about next year.

Really seems like a poor man's Tucker.  Hopefully he's just expected to provide a few minutes off the bench.  If he's anywhere near being a starter we are toast.

All potential pessimism aside, Olsen makes plenty of sense with one important caveat:

  1. He's a stretch four on volume shooting
  2. He's got three years left - program continuity is much needed
  3. He should come relatively cheap
  4. He absolutely can shoot (catch and shoot only) as evidenced by 40% 3pt on volume and the FT %

The all-important caveat: Did the staff properly evaluate whether his game will translate to P5 competition? Hell if I know - maybe @Uspshoosier has seen him play on more than highlight clips.

If true... it'd be incredibly silly not to take him.

He avged basically 4 def rebs a game, he avgs zerooooo oReb.

We would also have a "complimentary" 4 with Sisley. Who is absolutely a solid rebounder, overall player... but NOT an elite shooter.

I’m really intrigued by Estrella. Two years left. Actually big and plays like it.

Would like Olsen as a stretch 4 off the bench…15-20 mpg depending on matchups. He probably is going somewhere to start though?

Honestly I’ve been happy with most of the names we’ve been attached with other than Olsen. I get he’s a shooter but there are billions of shooters out there. He’s not very good at anything else on the court and I’m not sure how much someone so one dimensional will help especially in the big ten. Hopefully it’s just a small role if he comes

I think if brumbaugh was our third guard playing 20-25 mins a game we’d be a very good team

Your wants seem unrealistic. Especially the bold... Brumbaugh a 3rd guard? Going from what he's done at Tulane to playing 20MPG?

why?

He's listed as a junior online.  But only 1 year of college basketball.  I think he played in Canada before South Alabama.

I knew he was listed as such, and yes he did... I just didn't know how that worked eligibility wise..

Listed as a junior. Articles about him are citing him as an incoming senior.

Hadn't seen the articles, yet. Thank you. I wonder why that differs from ILL FR-- Mirkovic

I dont think anybody really does.  Seems like another guy that could sue for more years if he wanted to.
