As for freeman: TN247 page still has pretty much nothing, but TN Twitter feels confident, but it seems like it’s just coming from fans. Not a lot out there. Him and enright are mutuals on Instagram but he also follows a TN assistant (Rod Clark, weren’t we rumored for him for a bit?) and then he also follows Auburn MBB account.

The IDS running a puff piece for Zrno against DD is wild to me, but I don’t exactly have the highest level of respect for that publication.

Zrno is very clearly a bag chaser. You don’t commit to a school you know little to nothing about for a coach on a flaming hot seat if you’re interested in anything other than a bag. Maybe he’s good, maybe he’s not. I know nothing about his game, but IU will be just fine without him.

Honestly think it’s his agency - they’re very loud on the internet all of this seems very intentional

I agree his handlers are probably behind it. Not sure what they think they’re achieving by complaining about this though, would think that doesn’t exactly help his appeal to other schools. With Euro pros coming to CBB more and all the money / agents involved, we are really in the Wild West. Lots of noise, but that’s all it is…

Rabby also said a little while ago that other schools likely would’ve never been involved had IU not been, schools will see he is being recruited by IU and think he’s good enough for a look at solely based off of that. IU only got involved because it was a last ditch effort from Woodson.

Would not be surprised to see DDV start targeting some lingering HS prospects with a decent core of the team in place, while obviously looking for a big.

I like this, we need to work on a foundation for the future, so we are not reloading from the portal every year.  Kids from HS or someone with 2 to 3 years of eligibility left.

Always nice to wake up to a commit, even if expected. I'm no scout, but from what I watched he is able to get to the rim and finish. Streaky shooter. Like most of our guys so far is able to shoot long range threes. Comes from a team that was just in the NCAA tournament. Heck, you can say he was their best player. Million dollar question is will these guys all fit together and we won't know that for a while.

Side note: I made a comment on Twitter about Conerway and some UK fan had to comment and trash him. Funny for them to call us a quad 4 game and then talk about us on Rupp Rafters.

But enough with them. I'm guessing another guard/wing type player (Goode?) along with a few 5's is next in store. After that who knows. Always fun to see the roster take shape. Just shows you in the future not to panic early. We didn't know IU was going after some of these guys a week or so ago.

A few things:

Zrno was not a signed recruit. CDD and IU would not be allowed to talk about him or the situation.

Nowhere in the story does it appear the IDS asked any tough questions. It comes off as if he's just a mouthpiece for Zrno's agent.

A few questions off the top of my head that could have been asked:

  • You say you first tried to contact coach on March 18th yet decommitted on March 19th. Do you think you gave him enough time?
  • It was the middle of March, well  before the transfer portal opened. Why could you not give him more time before decommitting?
  • Why are you coming to us with this now?
  • Different coach with different valuations for players and he needs to build a team from the ground up. Would Zrno still listen if the money being offered was less?
  • What do you think Zrno would offer to a DeVries coached team?

The article could have at least pointed out that Zrno did commit very quickly but chose to not do so.

The dude totally got played by putting out such a puff piece for an ex-recruit.

Excellent summary, but the reporter got played? Nope, Harun Zrno got played by a dumb-@$$ agent.

Unless Zrno is a truly special player, do you think that Mark Pope at Kentucky is going to see this nonsense and think "now THERE's the type of kid and good-faith representative that I want on my team!"

Zrno's Eastern European dumb-@$$ agent probably just put a big "danger" sign above this kid's head.
