After Bryant crushed UK in the tourney Cal himself after the game said it’s not like we didn’t recruit the kid.   You saw why we wanted him.

That's a LOT of schekels - probably too much.  But with a given budget and one-year rentals it's basically year-by-year.  Your top player gets X dollars as long as he's the best available then wipe the slate clean the next year and re-order the payroll.

It's nothing that hasn't already been said on here...basically says it's IU or UK for Wilkerson. Says Freeman has visited IU and Auburn so far and visiting Tennessee this week; too early to call a leader. Also Conerway down to IU, Miss St, and Vanderbilt with IU in the lead.

Also mentions that NC State is the favorite to land Mgbako and Alabama F Derrion Reid.

I recall the post game interview and Calipari mentioning Bryant but recall it differently - more like Calipari mentioned recruiting him but was surprised how good Bryant ended up being. Regardless, they definitely went after another big that same year and landed him, could look it up if I wasn’t so lazy. As I know you know, “recruited” is a very broad word. A school will “recruit” a hundred guys each year, but only prioritize and really push to close a handful or so. I don’t think Bryant was one of those handful they tried to land but was more of a backup plan for them.

And if we’re offering almost a million more and all the shots he could want and he still chooses Kentucky then that means there’s not much we could’ve done and he wants to win a title and we’d just have to tip our cap to the kid
