They’re being paid like them.

also Rabby said Branhams latest update is UK & IU are running side by side to the finish line haha

of course. pump whatever needs to be pumped to ensure people listen to them both until LW has committed

"They're being paid like them"... yes, but they don't provide the entertainment value or the level of play the pros do. These kids are nothing without the brand they wear.

The other fanbases are throwing these numbers out there assuming from last year, plus inflation, we're buying away players they want. Conwell and McNeely were 1.5m dollar guys and I'll wager Wilkerson is in that neighborhood.

I’d put him above McNeelys 1.5 simply because there seems to be a great deal of wage inflation this off-season.

That being said it’s really hard to estimate/guess. Many thought Flagg was in the $2,000,000 range but the WSJ recently published an article stating that Duke finance bro’s came up with $4,800,000 for Flagg. Kind of crazy but who even knows which of those numbers are close.

so... they're pros?

I think so as they are making a ton of money for their craft and I can’t even imagine some of the “3-4 schools in 4 years” guys being in classrooms. Wouldn’t surprise me if some of the schools have a number of players with a very heavy dose of online classes. When is the last time we heard of a player being academically ineligible during the season?
Who can blame the players. They are expected to play on multiple week-nights, go on cross country trips and work well over 40 hours a week.

FWIW- The Athletic had an article today about the “missing piece” for 2026 title contenders.  They detailed Purdue, Duke, FL, BYU and Tex Tech.  And mentioned three others- Houston, UConn and  Arizona, as other teams with a near complete roster.  No mention of UK.

No mention of IU?

You could say the same thing about most NBA players.  Put together a league with 200 non-superstar (but still making 5-10mm) NBA guys, without their Celtic/Laker uniforms, and I’m guessing there would be very little fan interest.
