Not every year. But making just the tournament next year is a fair expectation. And making it every year after barring injury at a minimum is fair as well. 
 

And for Crean it was 9 years. Yes the first 3 years count. I had 3 birthdays and it was a waste of 3 years of fandom.

What are realistic expectations for next season?  Sorry if wrong thread.   Does DDV get the benefit of inheriting a $h1t show or is it top 3 in conference?   Just having a competent coach, alone, will certainly help.   I’m also not surprised we aren’t getting a couple of these guys right now just bc there are so many unknowns. While PT is guaranteed, there is literally no team - so I can understand some kids hesitancy.   Even if iu is average next year, hopefully we have a foundation to build with and IU will be in a better position to attract kids next year.      
 

I think long term IU will be very solid with DDV, but may not happen next year. 
 

I also recognize a lot of us have a lot of built up frustrations and see immediate turnarounds at places like UM and Louisville.

I went to high school with a girl who thought I was asking a trick question when I asked who the vice president was? She laughed and said there is no such thing. 
 

I went to get a strom and some beers and this place turned fun huh. Haha

I think we are probably looking at what he did last year at WVU. Hopefully he can establish the culture and Year 2 is a big improvement. But I am a toxic fan, so don’t listen to me.

I think that’s fair.  While it’s frustrating we arent getting big names now, I’m not shocked either.   Next year should be a different boat.

To be fair, a stumble out of the blocks in year one shouldn't get a Fire D Rock thread started. This year's portal won't be as easy as last year, because of so much more money. These are my opinions. Michigan, Louisville and Kentucky have all been in final 4s during the lifetimes of portal kids and agents, we haven't. I'm a fn lunatic at heart so I expect a similar performance in year one though. I think DD is as good a coach as the other 3. Staff will matter and I have to believe that's been the major focus.
