May’s contract gives him an average of $3.75 million over 5 years at Michigan.  I’m shocked that Louisville couldn’t beat that.  Kenny Payne’s contract had an average base of $3.375 million.

I wonder if May took less at Michigan than Louisville offered.

Will Kentucky really fire Coach Calipari?  Supposedly, they are having a meeting today. I just don't see it happening. They would have to know that Louisville would hire him immediately and I don't think Kentucky would want Cal in Louisville.

Adam Howard going to UM with Dusty? He changed his twitter pic and bio and retweeted a Dusty to UM tweet.

Any update on this?

Evidently John Beilein helped the Michigan AD identify 4 candidates: Dusty May, Darian DeVries, Niko Medved, and Amir Abdur-Rahim. All mid- major guys with success.

If IU has a similar list next year I bet it’s Abdur-Rahim. He was at Kennesaw State when a certain IU president used to work there. He led them to their first D1 winning record in program history. Hit the ground running in year 1 at South Florida, 25-8 (including post season) and won the AAC regular season. If he backs that up next year, he is our mid major guy imo.

edit: Also beat FAU and Florida State in year 1.

Michigan had an excellent former college coach help identify coaching candidates.  IU has former players that know more about the NBA than the college game make our hiring decisions.  What they say about data is true- garbage in, garbage out.

And what they do know about the NBA isn’t great either, given their track records after their playing days were over.

I wouldn't be mad about that.  Seems like a talented coach.

Thats where I’m at too. Definitely open to him as a possibility, especially if he backs up his first year at USF.
