I should have added at least three times. I was trying to be nice and say three times. I was surprised about it but then remember Leal and his family are well-liked around this town. A lot of people go to church together.

So that is the number you're actually hearing? I think that is what Old fart was trying to get to. If it was a number you were hearing or a number that you made up. But that sounds like it is the number you're hearing. Crazy. They don't even just need to overpay players to come here, they need to overpay the current players to stay just to save face.

We essentially have an uninspiring, lame duck coach who may only be here for one more year, who has an antiquated, ineffective, and unattractive system that he seems completely unopen to changing. Other programs will easily look more attractive.

I do think many others were also VERY concerned about this being the case, especially when our only real "plan" seems to be to try to get (several?) really good players from the portal for '24/'25.

Still shaking my head at the utter idiocy of what our "leaders" have come up with for the future of this program.

Its why I've held on to a sliver of hope that someone will see the coming portal disaster and hit "abort" before too much longer.

Agree. And if by some miracle, Woodson is able to build a decent team and do fairly well (e.g., better than last season), that will only cause him to adopt the portal approach as his "proven model" from this point forward.

We had minutes and money last year for guards and they all said no. We got one impact transfer. I am not a rocket surgeon but the writing was on the wall. We weren’t getting 2-4 high level impact transfers. No matter how much money we were throwing around. Someone said it earlier, but money is good, but having fun is better. And anyone believing we could drastically outbid other big programs for top level talent is completely deluded. I work with several UNC and Duke alumni. Some pretty connected. Our 6 million dollars doesn’t set us apart and was never going to. It’s a pipe dream. And that’s before you even get into coaching and system. We had the NPOY runner up and a lottery pick and we finished 3 games out of first place and got nuked in the round of 32.

Woodson is going to have to pull off a miracle in the portal to elevate the starting line up and I don't think it's possible, unless Reneau or.galloway are willing to.be 6th man.

Well you're forgetting two important facts. The staff didn't think JHS was a one and done (their words) and they said no guards wanted to come in and compete with X and Gallo (again their words). Oof. 

This year we got a lot of monies and no guards to compete with. Players come to mike Woodson, don't forget that. So all good this year
