Are you saying that any other high major D1 coach couldn’t get the same results bringing high D1 talent to the Southland conference? I’m one of the few that actually watches the Southland outside of 1 game in March. Of course he was always going to get those results. And of course he will be back in a high major setting. Him coaching in a league in the Southland is like taking a gun to a knife fight. No I don’t think any high major D1 coach could just stroll into McNeese St and go 28-2.

He is in the best of all possible basketball worlds right now. IU would be a huge step down in my opinion. Stevens has a good relationship with the current Celtics owner. The Celtics will be sold very soon. Who knows how he'll get along with the new owner and the new owner may want to bring in their own President of Basketball Operations. Since IU last approached him, the Celtics won an NBA Championship. Stevens may now feel like mission accomplished with the Celtics. Stevens is 48. There's speculation that he has the hunger to coach again. Revitalizing his favorite childhood team may be the challenge that he's looking for. Willkie71, thebigweave, hoosierfan6157 and 2 others 5

jumpshot53 Posted February 4, 2025 Posted February 4, 2025 Brad coaching at IU isn't any stranger than Belicheck coaching football at NC. Actually I think Brad's deal makes more sense. What's the big pull for Bill at NC besides the money? IU Prof, Artie86, Chris007 and 1 other 4

Heck of a former Purdue assistant that went to W Kentucky after A &M -CC before Oklahoma St. watched him live in the First 4 a couple years ago. I personally wouldn’t call him a high level D1 coach yet but I’m guessing you are reaching since I said high major coach even though this is his first year as a high major coach. Wade coaching in the Southland is just a little bit different than his case. One used the Southland as a stepping stone while the other was a high major coach but had to use the Southland just to get his foot back in the door thebigweave and AZ Hoosier 2

The only way you get MW going 28-2 in Southland from what I said is by being disingenuous or not at all understanding the point being made... I'm saying your credibility evaluating coaches seems to not be what you think it is... Maybe the conversation would be more pleasant if you stated your opinions with some modesty...
