I am curious has Indiana or would Indiana ever approach Painter. I get we have a less than one percent chance of him saying yes. But I would be curious if he told us to kick rocks immediately or at least listen.

There was a day when that would have been incredibly possible. Painter wanted to be a Hoosier so badly out of high school... Knight didn't give him the time of day and he went to Purdue. The rest is history.

But even if we did get Painter, we'd be assured of two things: we'd make the NCAA tournament every year and we'd crash and burn before seeing any glory.

I think he and Calbert were high school teammates or played against each other. They're the same age I know that.

They both played at Harrison High. Brownell actually is about 3 years older.

He's interesting -- doesn't do enough at Clemson to be considered an elite coach, while doing just enough to not get fired. I think he's got the second-longest tenure among ACC coaches (behind Leonard Hamilton). Been there 15 or 16 seasons.

I hope the crowd doesn't chant Extend Mike Woodson tonight.

I can see Buckner texting Dolson saying see even the Purdue fans know Mike is good. HAHA

Haha, you beat me to it. I was gonna say something like Buckner saying “See! People want him to stay!”

Cliff Marshall lol

Nah. I watched him a couple times in high school and came away unimpressed. As was said earlier he was the beneficiary of a lot of surrounding talent and he had games where he would get hot on good looks. It wasn't Marshall in my opinion; it was D1 basketball.

Honestly the Stevens talk has become numb to me.  May and Hoiberg I'd be fine with.  Doubt May comes considering he just took over UM and is only in year 1.

Steven's isn't coming until he does. I'm not falling for that talk again it's how we nd up with guys like Woodson. Brad says no so here is Michael Lewis for 7 years. He is an iu guy!!!

Brad Stevens may come here but not until he's 55.  He is 48 and in about the best position one can be in for an NBA team with LOADED talent for the foreseeable future.  GENERAL MANAGER of the CELTICS.  He ain't coming here in the foreseeable future lol

You clearly don't understand the situation that the Celtics are in financially and with ownership. It's not great.

they are for sale sure, but are they not competing at the highest level?  Did they not just win an NBA championship?  Do they not have a damn good roster?  Parden me for not paying attention to the NBA lol

Yes, payrolls continue to rise, that is for every team.  You have to spend money to make it to the top. That is the cost of putting together a championship caliber team in todays day and age.  you have one offs that make it on a lower cap level but more times than not it's the teams spending the money find their way at the top at the end of the season.

Someone will buy the celtics and their financial situation will be resolved.  It is the freaking celtics lol

Yeah I just love to yell Cliff Marshall when someone mentions IU players shooting woes.  Because it's all his fault you know lol.

Will Brad Stevens ghost be on the search list in 2065?

No, it'll be his son on the search list at that point...

Yep he did but that was because of Woodson and not the admins. The only iu guys Woodson cares about our his buddies or ones that kiss his behind. Didn't thd king ban Brian Evans from the arena.

Good lord; you falling for talk about guys like Stevens is in no way "HOW" we end up with guys like Woodson.

Get. A. Grip.

Playing devils advocate… if Dolson is “falling” for Stevens - swinging for home runs and missing - that’s definitely a factor in how we ended up with Woodson. If some narratives are to believed, striking out on Stevens last time was all the opportunity Buckner needed to railroad his guy in there. I get people who are over the idea of Stevens at this point and need to see it to believe it. Definitely worthwhile for Dolson to stay engaged with Stevens hoping the timing works out. But prioritization and timing and anticipating internal obstacles needs to be better this time around.

I live near the Clemson campus and have a lot of exposure to the athletics program (very well run, by the way). Since Brad Brownell was brought up, I figured I would add my two cents. I love watching his teams play. Ian Schieffelin is, quite possibly, my favorite player to watch on any team in the country right now. He's battled some back spasms but still, no one gets more out of his given ability than Ian does. Clemson plays tough, "Clemson Grit" is a real thing and they are a tough out for anyone. Brownell's teams have historically struggled to consistently score and they do go through some exasperating droughts and occasionally blow games they have no business losing (this year against South Carolina as an example). Long story short, every interaction with or story I have heard about Brad Brownell and his staff (including assistant Dick Bender, yes really) has been extremely positive. I think IU would consistently make the tournament with him as the head coach but he's a great fit at Clemson and I think IU will and should look elsewhere.
