Here is the bottom line lol! Today was a great win! It definitely hurts the chances of him being gone after the season! This was far from a perfect game or a performance that says this team can win or compete in the big 10 imo. We caught some breaks and we made some shots. I feel our interior defense was so bad penn state didn't need the three to hang in the game. Woodson has done things like this every season! Team loses a ton or plays so terrible you think they are going to tank and then boom woodson pulls out a few wins and things look up! Then eventually everything balances out and we are disappointed.
Why did ballo need suspended to give effort and play better?
Why did the team wait to play harder for the conference games than the 2 cupcakes leading up to it? Woodson cannot bring a competitive team every game! We will see how long this stretch lasts. I hope forever but I have zero faith and the last 2 games haven't eased any of my concerns.
I want woodson fired because I believe he isn't good enough. If he proves me wrong and gets these guys playing at the level I believe they are capable then I will be excited and not want him fired. That means they have to keep playing well and be close to winning the big 10. They need a high seed for ncaa tournament. Win big 10 tournament or at the very least a sweet 16. I have serious doubts he can do that but if so I will be cheering for woodson and will always be cheering for iu to get the best results they can until or unless the season is lost!

1. This should be Woodsons last year regardless of what happens the rest of season.   Clearly not the head coach that the program needs moving forward 

2. It’s ok to point out and be happy  when a team coached by someone you want fired gets a big road win over a top 38 NET projected in the field team even when they shot it bad or whatever other excuse is being used

I see no reason why we can't win at Iowa which is our next road game and winning at NW and OSU aren't out of the question either. I also forgot we should win at Washington

The bottom line is last year was the time to fire him and they didnt. They are now giving him every opportunity with the six million to save his job. He may leave but it will be on his terms. You don't give six million to a guy you want gone. They clearly believe in him.

After all, at our very core we are IU fans and Woody is a proud alum just like me. I don’t think he’s the right coach going forward and very much don’t expect him to be the coach after this year, but while he’s here? Just like during Archie’s last year ima gonna root like crazy for the team, and enjoy it when they play well like they did today.

And Penn State? They are a quality team that shoots it well because most teams (including usually IUBB) don’t defend the perimeter as well as we did today against them.

So my guess in the prediction league was 87 points for Penn State, their avg is 87.9. Guessed 73 for IU, their avg is 79(went lower because of MR injury). Had PSU shot their average we would have lost. Never thought I'd get called a clown for guessing on averages lol

$15M buyout, moving quickly on Allen deserves some credit.

Quinn doesn't care about football. Dolson was allowed to make his own decision on cig. Dolson is not running the bbal program imo. If he was I'm pretty sure Woodson would not have been back. But now all tge momentum is with the keep Woodson camp. Win 12 big ten games and one in the tourney and he is safe as can be.

But it’s also okay to be critical of a 6 point win given the metrics of how it happened. As you stated earlier, a good team turns that shooting performance into a 20+ point win. 
 

Thats the main crux of the last like ten pages of back and forth in the Fire Mike Woodson thread. I made my comments pro-win in the game thread and came here to vent my displeasure with how it happened. People hanging out in a thread designated for complaining about CMW, being trolled for hanging out in a thread designated for complaining about CMW. It happens every time we have an unexpected win, it’s all good it’s just silly.

So I’m guessing you’re picking Iowa to win the B10? You know, since they average more ppg than every other team in the conference?

Since Spring '24 when Woody was retained, Scott got a raise/extension and his vision for FB played out, which is going to include athletic dept revenues increasing $10-20M/yr, an amazing achievement.  Our Athletic Director, who makes $1M/yr and is the only one at IU who has made a good hire in the last 25 years, has plenty of influence over basketball.  Things have changed since the '21 hire and '24 retention.

I am not saying this is a season changing win but I am still going to enjoy any win and I hope any fan would be happy when we win. I know the last two teams wr played aren't great but I have seen a change in the way the team is responding to each other. The last two games we are 21/50 from 3 so that is showing we are shooting more 3's and making more.

Before the season the expectations were to compete for the big ten and make a deep run in the tournament. I am not saying we will or can do this but it is still in front of this team so I am just going to let the season play out. Nothing has changed my mind about wanting a coaching change after the season but to me some of you act like  you are miserable after wins.
