He went 18-15 year 1, won the SEC the following year and finished 2nd and 3rd the next two years.

I didn't have let's look at will wade as a realistic candidate for the last 15 pages on my fire Woodson bingo card. 

Would he do well? Probably. 

Would IU hire him? Nope

You mentioned an O/U of 2.5 seasons earlier before fans turn on them.

If you can't give fans a reason to be optimistic during the first 2.5 years, how can you argue they deserve more than the 4 years they always get at IU? If there is excessive noise for a calendar year, as there has been for Woody, it'll be because there are major issues. 

A vicious cycle? Not really... just crappy job of hiring/firing basketball coaches for the past quarter century. 

Make the right hire for the first time in a long time and the fanbase is a huge factor in waking up a sleeping giant. 

BTW, Purdue is about to unseat us and move into 10th place alone on the all time wins list tonight. 

Better win and better win quick is damn right, amigo. 

Of course you can win big overnight, but that shouldn’t be the expectation or even the #1 priority year 1. Getting a guy in here who can establish a culture and identify 9-10 guys who all fit that culture should be the #1 priority. And then build from there. If it results in 15 wins, so be it. But we can’t or won’t accept that it make take 2 maybe 3 seasons until the old culture is completely overhauled. 
 

I know what we’ve done the last 25 or so years and it’s never worked.

Absolutely not. Somehow, we have opinions that IU is going to disregard their "optics" to hire people like beard or wade, when this administration won't even disregard their optics to fire Woodson. It's laughable and sad at the same time

Crean got three years to rebuild.  Woody was mediocre to okay for two years and still had very strong support going into year three, then he imploded and the fans noticed we were ranked #100.

It’s pretty amazing how many fans still show up to watch Woody’s terrible program this year.

The fans are pretty reasonable and very supportive given the coaching performances here.
