Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Purge? The AD leads that. Dolson goes nowhere and for a long time won’t go anywhere

Agreed. Dolson is going nowhere. He seemed to fix football, which will could conceivably be the most valuable asset of the athletic department.

I do, however, disagree with some who seem to completely let him off the hook for the Woodson hiring. On paper it was one of the worst major college basketball coaching selection of the last few decades - up there with Penny Hardaway too, maybe. All of the claims that Dolson was somehow forced into by boosters or QB dont entirely get him off the hook.

Since the first game of the conference season at home against Minnesota, we have given up at least 75 points in every conference game. Nine in a row.

That’s next level horrible.

Not true.

Yep. And I’m not specifically meaning you. She has taken a lot of grief here, much deserved. But her basic premise that IU doesn’t work in the way we would like to fire him now may end up the most likely scenario.

Yep. We were kind of laughing at her, but let's remember how inconceivably incompetent this admin has been over the last 20+ years. LOL

Kathy IS them. Thats how they think. Yikes!

It's worse than penny imo.

For you no ex -IU guy advocates.

If, for some reason Dolsen gets caught up in the purge, I would take Chris Reynolds as AD in a heartbeat

If this happens then I’m done with IU sports because not only will our administration be corrupt but will also reach the mountain top of stupidity. We finally get an excellent football program ( which brings 10x more money than basketball) and we fire the guy the football coach likes…….. done. Deactivate this account if this happens this year.

I still don't get the "forced" What exactly did quinn do threaten to fire him. Hadn't he just started.

Logically I understand there's no discernable difference between letting Woodson go during the season or after. One could argue that since we won't go quietly that losing in February and March is necessary for him and his supporters to understand how he isn't right for the job. Though conversely keeping him risks exposing the public to our most outspoken contingency who will serenade us with in game chants and social media rants. These scenes won't help the outside perception of our program which could negatively influence the coaching search.

Emotionally it's difficult to know he's still the coach. Our administration and big donors have mismanaged IU basketball for so long that releasing Woodson now gives me faith that they too are aware of the issues and want to correct the problem. Each passing day with him as coach gives me more concern that there aren't enough decision makers who understand the damage he has caused--not just with wins and loses but by denigrating fans and separating us into true fans who are loyal to him and fake fans that are committed to a better basketball program even if it means admitting he isn't the answer.

He was a year into the job and the most or second most powerful person at IU and his pals wanted Woodson.  What was Scott supposed to do?  Quinn could just flat out not approve whatever Scott wanted and Fergie could cut off NIL… they held all the cards.

It’s going to get a lot worse if they let him keep coaching.  I assure you.  His senior day speech will be filled with racial rhetoric when he knows he’s about to be fired.  And don’t be surprised to see some awful 6 letter words from some of our crazy fans along the way too.  The administration has created a powder keg.  They own this.

I mostly want it for the players at this point. Give them some new juice. Some renewed hope. Something.

As far as the Admin.

They don’t want him to be embarrassed further. Although losing out or the last 80% of the games and missing the tournament again won’t be much better. And the buyout drops in March. They will wait if they feel like they can.

Tyme is spouting off again. Thinks the next coach will be some up and coming coach off the radar. And he/she is probably right about that.

I really hope the next person has a plan and vision to hit the portal and try to win right away. Gotta get a very confident guy in there.

I think Dolson is serious but I’m not sure who that coach is.

I think Wade and Beard would win. I don’t think I can handle Wade.

Were either found to be guilty of any wrong doing? So both just technically suspected of wrong doing, correct?

Only one coach was cleared (in the sense you’re interpreting) of any wrong doing. It wasn’t Beard by the way.

Basically he wasn't really the AD then. It was in title only.

One way to put it, he wasn't for bball.  And that's our problem.  IU hires an AD, and then meddles with the job the AD should do.  Terrible management.

It’s definitely going to get a whole lot worse for him as well as all of us IU fans. We want nothing but success, positive national attention, including rankings and an attractive tourney resume’ each year. All of these things attract talent and afford more wins year in and year out!
I may be speaking for many others on here, but I am thoroughly embarrassed and “madder ‘n a mashed duck!”
I’ve seen success when we were regularly on top of the mountain and know how glorious it felt. In 1987 I was on campus in Wright Quad lobby with my girlfriend watching the National Championship game.
When Keith Smart hit that shot to win it all was a euphoric memory that I will cherish for ever! Everyone flooded the exit doors screaming and yelling at the top of our lungs! We hit Showalter Fountain then onto Kirkwood for more pandemonium!

If you were there it was absolute paradise!!! I miss the love and admiration we all had for Indiana University. We were an absolute machine! Sorry, I just got caught up in that time warp!

Go IU!!!

Beard is probably the one coach who would take the IU job that I wouldn't have much concern with him being able to win. He has the chops, the demeanor, and the personality to succeed here. Not many do.

That being said, I don't think the admin would even give him an interview.

Well you never know.  Most people have skeletons in their closet, but what you have done after that is what should matter.

I was living at Colonial Crest Apts which are now gone. We threw a keger and all of our hometown buddies attending Purdue came down for the game. I was also at yesterday’s game. Up 4 with 50 seconds left, espn had us at a 90% chance of winning. It didn’t take into account our coach. Fire Woodson!

But...he wasn't found guilty.  Isn't that cleared of any wrong doing?   I thought you were innocent until PROVEN guilty?!
