Cronin might be at the bottom of the list but Micah is still struggling at ND and Mack isn’t in the top 50 on the list

If we end up with one of these guys we might as well hold off on a change until we can do better.

I agree that the list sucks but we need to be realistic. Is May going to leave Michigan? I don’t think so. We had our chance to get him last offseason but Buckner decided to prove a point to our fan base by retaining Woody. Pearls not leaving Auburn so don’t get your hopes up. We haven’t been good in a decade, are we really expecting people are going to be lining up to come here to coach?

I do believe both could be realistic options.

There  will be plenty of good coaches that will take the job.  The job being in the B1G alone will attract most of the coaches outside of the B1G and SEC.  With the amount of money those 2 conferences have any coach outside of them that isn’t already a hall of fame coach will take a look.  Add the NIL and built in fanbase and IU will be the biggest opening next cycle.  Hire a college basketball lifer and you give yourself to be successful.   Try another gimmick route to find a coach and continue down the road to being just another program

I think we can get a good coach I just don't think it will be dusty. We had our chance quinn but convinced the big money Woodson lovers to triple down on the king. It will go down as more of the more incompetent moves an incompetence administration has ever made imo.

Why wouldn’t Pearl leave Auburn for IU?   I feel like IU is one of the very few places he would leave for.

The odd thing is May’s buyout almost has an IU clause.  Mich was desperate, but most big time schools would not agree to what he signed.

Only if whoever he hires next fails and May strives at Michigan.  If the next coach kills it at IU and gets things rolling then not many will even bring up the missed opportunity to hire May the cycle before

Thus why I wouldn’t be a fan of going after Stevens again. He wasn’t in the college game long, jumped at his first chance to leave and then got out of coaching altogether.

If May is out of the picture I would throw the Brinks truck at Otzelberger. Played and coached in Wisconsin. Has to know the B1G . Better conference. Better facilities. Better NIL.
Next might be Jan’s, who coaches at a football school.

If it’s a couple of years before Woodson is gone, I would keep an eye on Jerrod Calhoun from Utah State. Coached at Youngstown State so knows the Midwest. And bonus, we’d be able to resurrect “Calhoun’s health is the word.”
