Fire Coach Woodson Thread

Recommended Posts

If the publicity of this happening just shoots through the roof, is there ANY way they say it’s a sure thing before the season ends or will they wait til BP is done in tournament if he’s indeed the next coach? Sooner or later players from both Auburn and IU see what’s being put out there and start to wonder. I guess I could see why they’d still wait to officially announce it til after BP is done.

No way that they announce BP as IU's coach until Auburn's season is finished. Until then it will be pure speculation and rumors.

Unless IU brings woody back of course.

There is no way IMO there is any announcement about the new coach until their current team's season is over. Could be an announcement on Woody's future shortly after we lose in the BTT

There are 3 things that could swing this entire thing in Dolson’s favor:

1) fan support or lack there of for the last home game and B10 tournament.

2) booing at the last home game and B10 tournament

3) boosters pulling out of the NIL funding for recruits

He can’t recruit good players without it, especially his free agency stupid plan

4) Mass exodus of players, including a couple that have been thought of as very highly unlikely to leave IU, would be extremely alarming.

I would also add having to replace 6 or more players on the current roster. Xavier, Walker, Ware, Gunn, Banks. If you add a couple more things get interesting. If Reneau or Galloway go, then his job should be over

Yeah I figured that’d be the case. It’d be an awful distraction and bad look for his current team while they’re still trying to win games. The speculation and rumors are gonna be crazy.

I think part of this was why Dolson held the players-only meeting last week talking about social media and being contacted by other programs.

Possibly the worst offense we’ve ever seen at IU. It’s breathtakingly bad, boring, anemic. It speaks volumes to why we are around #100 in kenpom….and doubts it will ever change if Woodson remains.

I watched a play last night toward the end of the Purdue game that was odd compared to the way we play.  It was a broken play and the ball bounced off the backboard into Edey’s hands, instead of him putting it back up, he looks out to find Lance Jones in the corner, who hit a back breaking 3.  Our guys wouldn’t have done that but of course we have terrible shooting

Then to go along with a little while back Woodson saying he wants his players to stay off social media….he doesn’t want them to see stuff and get excited about the possibility of playing for a better coach lol

I reported that Sunday during the game. Dolson had a meeting with all the players talking about many different things. Don't have much else on it. They touched on social media, being contacted by agents, and other programs

No way Malik is throwing it back out.

He would've put his head down and tried to bull his way to the basket and either a) got trapped and turned the ball over; or b) gotten an offensive foul.

He's never seen a double team he didn't think he could work through.

People are getting way ahead of themselves. Some reality:

1. Buckner has great influence, but he’s not solely pulling the levers here, at least not in the way he did when he forced Glass’s hand on Crean;

2. Dolson is in charge, but he understands that situations like this require internal vetting and consensus before anything happens. This is a group sport;

3. There are some very important stakeholders who would need to do an “about face” on Pearl for him to be hired;

4. If he remains, Woody will shake up his staff;

5. The player defection possibility is very real, as is the Woodying;

6. Don’t believe the rumor that this is Dolson positioning himself publicly in an internal battle with QB. To be kind, that’s misinformed. To be accurate, it’s nonsense to those who know those two.

Thats all for now.

Good stuff and welcome to btb.  Keep up with quality posts like that and we'll let you stick around for another couple of days.   lol

Yeah, but it was actually a dumb play.  Edey had an easy dunk.  That 3 misses and it’s a different ending.
