He's got the physical tools, but I've said he has the mental stability of a bag of rats in a house fire and I stand by that. Negative plays can snowball with him and single handedly lose you the game.

It's like people let a good BTT run overshadow who he's been the rest of his career.

Physical tools galore. Kid should be playing defensive back not on a freaking basketball court though.

We had every reason to believe he'd turned a corner during the run at the end of his first year here, and to be fair, it was significantly more games than just the BTT. If Woodson came out today and said he was indefinitely suspended, it wouldn't bother me. He's our best pg, heck maybe our best player, when he wants to be. When all the cards are in his favor.

Can't play on the road, can't work through adversity. Just annoying af to watch.

SMH!!!

......I respectfully disagree!

>>>>>>In the BIGTEN Rutgers is......

 - #1 in scoring defense

- #2 in allowing opponent FG %

- #5 in allowing 3pt. FG's

- #5 in team rebounding

- #1 player overall in blocked shots (Omoruyi)

Offense in terrible,.....however, like they always say, "Defense Wins Games!"

You left out the the most important stat…their defense doesn’t win them many games. Rutgers is #14 in the Big Ten…arguably the worst team in conference. They’re a bottom tier league team.

I’m assuming that’s unadjusted for pace. Torvik doesn’t show them as particularly well at defending the 3. That seemed the case last night too. We missed tons of open looks.

We did give them a quad 3 win tho…lol

What happened?

X took a clear shot at one of the Rutgers player's groins and got a flagrant 2 and was tossed. Unfortunately, that wasn't the even the worst part of that awful display last night.

X’s cheap crotch shot. He’s a punk. If Woody had a pair, he’d kick X to the curb for good.

100%. Agree!  The guy ain’t no leader!  Truth be told, he’s one of the main problems with this team.  Woody should have pushed him out after last year and not encourage him to apply for reinstatement!  I wish he would get kicked off

This is the first time I have said this. CMW lost us that game yesterday.  We weren’t playing well but neither was Rutgers, and we were just starting to get our footing offensively that allowed us to build a 7 point lead, then came the stupid substitutions.  That totally lost whatever footing and momentum we had and that allowed Rutgers to gain confidence against our subs and we never got it back. He should have brought guys in slowly.  Rutgers is horrible and that was a winnable road game but instead he coached like we were playing Army.  Honestly, I can’t wait for Galloway and Xavier Johnson to leave.  One can’t hit shots outside of 5 feet and the other is a freaking head case and these two are our team captains and are supposed to provide leadership, pathetic

To be fair, Woody didn't do a good job yesterday but the players were also a heaping pile of **** too. All around bad.

IMO......The header about IU in the today's Indy Star says it all.....

Woodson can't fix IU mess alone. His seniors need to lead the way

Not a fan of Indy Star or Doyell but the headline is correct. X bonehead move and Gallo is like the dude off Space Jam that had his abilities taken from him.

Two gripes w/ Woodson: 1. More A**es need to meet bench for non-effort (blocking out) - Sparks came in and blocked out Omoruyi like a tutorial video. 2. Line change hockey subs in the B1G especially on the road needs to find its' way out of Woodson's repertoire.

To emphasize again: bench meets a**, a** sends signal to brain that this isn't fun, brain sends signal to body to increase effort - it's a winning formula for the brains of 5*, 4*, 3* and no stars. Accountability would be X not starting next game and running him until his balls hurt, what a poor representation of IU culture for our longest tenured player (outside Space Jam Gallo)

And whose job is it to motivate the players? At the end of the day, who is responsible for the outcome? Who is responsible for building a roster of great, good and serviceable players? Whose job is it to mold the group of players into a cohesive team? Whose job is it to take corrective action when things go off the rails? Whose job is it to send the message that the "team" is failing, and to sit their collective butts down to communicate his displeasure with the direction of things? Whose job is it to put the team in the best position to have a chance to win any game?

Clearly this all falls on Woody, and he is failing miserably.

Going to the post-game presser with crap like "we gotta get better" just ain't cutting it. Either MAKE it happen, or hit the road, Woody.

Well we do gotta get better, unfortunately he didn't say he'd make the needed changes.

^^This is all true.^^

However, Woody doesn't just say "we gotta get better," he also frequently says "it's my job to get them better." That's a good take by Woody; it's a clear statement that the players haven't been good enough, but it's a way of stating it without throwing them under the bus. And it's owning up to where the buck stops with the team; with the head coach. He built the roster; he hired the staff; he coaches the team.

So after saying that it's his job to get the team better, what if it doesn't? If that happens Woody has already clearly self-identified that he has not been an effective coach.

The season is far from over; last year they got better and started to do so in mid-January. That was a lot of fun, but it doesn't necessarily mean it will happen this year. So the jury is still out, but if the team doesn't get better, Mike Woodson has regularly clearly identified who would be to blame.
