Unless you are in the meetings and interviews you have no clue.

No clue about what? That half the finalists have never even been coordinators? Thats a fact, not opinion. Dabo Swinney was a WR coach when he got the Clemson job, crazier things have happened. But this is not the time to roll the dice on someone who would be learning on the job.

I believe he is saying that you don't know for fact that those are the finalists.

That is correct, we don't know. I even said I hope this info is wrong. This is just info that is being passed around. Do I believe the person, yes, but do I know that they're getting it from Dolson or someone close to him, I do not.

And IU isn't Clemson even back then...

Right, which is why hiring someone who has never even been a coordinator would really dumb.

Hart or Frye for OC or something like Frye's current job would be one thing.  HC though just screams same old IUFB. Hart is at his alma mater so I'm assuming he'd need a promotion or heck of a raise to be interested in coming back to IU.

Earlier I thought Frye would come to IU to be the OC, now I'm hearing he would rather stay at OSU to be the OC, and would only come to be the HC.

IMO we should not be (nor do I think we are) independently interviewing anyone (such as Hart or Frye) for a top coordinator job.

The new coach, whoever that is, needs to pick his top coordinators. Just because someone is ready and an excellent hire for a top coordinator job in a vacuum does not mean they are good match with the head coach.

Yeah, there’s just no way Dolson is interviewing OC candidates. If those guys are interviewing with him, it’s for the head job.

I'm being told that Herman and Creighton are out and we will do in-person interviews with Candle, Chryst, Hart & Frye.

This is the one time I'm hoping I'm getting bad info.

Are you hearing that we don’t want Herman, or he doesn’t want us?

Of all the guys listed  — he’d be my No. 1 choice.

I asked and did not get an answer to that. Because like you and many others he's my top choice. I'm hoping he dumped up and not the other way around.

Frye technically isn't the OC at Ohio State, Brian Hartline is although he doesn't call the plays either. No clue what Frye makes at Ohio State but I would have figured the chance at play-calling duties with a competitive salary would help jump start his head coaching potency but apparently IU is ready to roll the dice.

If it is indeed Candle we probably won't hear anything official until after Toledo plays at noon Saturday. If Chryst it could be in the next 48 hours and he better have assistants already lined up and ready to go for Monday. God knows he needs it.

If it's Hart or Frye I'll pretend I care and try and talk myself into it, but realize that my Saturdays are going to be pretty free for the foreseeable future.

I think I read that Frye makes about a million a year to be the run game coordinator-OC.

I don't think we have met with any of these guys in person yet and want to do that today and tomorrow wherever we can and then go from there.
