Hang on, are you suggesting they should’ve demoted (fired) TA for - at the time - no particular reason (hindsight is TELESCOPIC in this case), he stays around (??????), his offensive coordinator takes over the head job, and we just keep it moving?

At the very least, he never should have gotten an extension. Literally not a single program wanted him.

Yeah, people love touting the “Tom would stay if he succeeds here” line, yet we had to give him a top 5 buyout to keep him here. The math’s not mathing.

Sadly, nobody sees the Indiana job as a destination job, Tom Allen may very well be the best we can do.

What would happen if the team literally didn’t go to Ann Arbor for the UM game?

I think that might be our best option.

Kind of like taking the 5th!

I would surmise that there are good, "unknown" coaches out there that would love a crack at coaching in the B1G.

And you describe pretty much IU football tradition as hindsight is telescopic =  this.  Forward correct decision makers.  Whatever and however.  Yes, it may sound outlandish.….What are these decision makers getting paid for anyway…it’s their job to make it happen (respectable program)

That may be a player movement possibility

Who cares if they see it as a destination job. If someone comes here and gets scooped up after two years, that means the team actually did well those two years. That’ll make it easier to hire the next guy. You can’t let the preemptive fear of losing a coach down the line stop you from going after the best coach you can get. After today Allen will be 2-18 in his last 20 conference games. If that’s the best we can get then just shut the program down.
