Scott spent his entire career at IU finding/distributing money, so I’m not surprised we’re in a good (or great) place financially. You’d think he has a plan to maximize our profitability and what that means for the bad football coach’s future. 

It is financially feasible to do the right thing. Been saying that for a while.

Because we also don't spend very much on that sport, even with greatly overpaying the HC. We go cheap on assistants, recruiting, facilities, etc.

Bloomington deserves/craves a solid football program. It's so damn beautiful in the fall, the rest of the country needs to see it! There's nothing lacking (alumni, fanbase, $,donors, etc.), besides a complete commitment from decision makers. Our other programs are making Bloomington a destination for these highly ranked kids, why can't a top coach do the same?

I am 53 and been an IU fan my whole life and for most part the program and fan base has been bad.

That's because the football team has been bad because the administration doesn't care. If they don't care and put forth any effort, why should the fans?

Yep. Just recently when we were supposed to be decent we sold out the stadium with ease. Place was packed for Idaho (!!), sold out for Cincy, students have been filling their section for 3 years now, etc., then the program craps down its leg and we’re asking why the fans don’t show up? Not to mention how much of a clusterf*** the stadium is when they do show up. Give us something to show up for and be good to us when we do!

Right there with you (57). Not disputing what we've endured, just saying if the university commits to success, the fans will back it. If Duke and Carolina can do it, why can't we.

Yes Scott because Bloomington is a fun place with many things to do that are more fun than watching the football team get curb stomped each week.

That lies the problem with IU football. You need to win to get fans to come into the stadium. It is about impossible to recruit well with a half empty stadium so what comes first

I guarantee incredible fan support to cheer on an awful team with no tradition or history is not going to come first.

Nor should it. If the administration doesn't care about the football team, why should the fans? That would just tell the AD that the fans will be there regardless and won't lead to any change.

He’s the starting QB for St. Francis in Fort Wayne (NAIA).
