Woodson had indicated that he wasn't able to make cuts and said that until he could, it wasn't even an option. I don't recall inside sources ever saying he was close....the best we got was Xavier tweeting that it was 'soon'. CSP and thebigweave 2 Quote

Don't have time to go back and look but there were several posts about 1-2 weeks out, next week, should be ready by X game, he should be ready, etc. Quote

Doctors said it wasn’t healing the way they wanted it to and he didn’t want to risk further injury. He ended up sleeping on it and decided to try and get a hardship waiver instead of playing on a foot not fully healed. So the plan was to come back but the plan got changed go iu bb and Joe_hoopsier 2 Quote

Kind of reinforces the wait and see approach over getting pumped about the info you want to hear from insiders. Quote

Trayce and Race deciding to come back last yea was huge to keep momentum, would have been brutal had they not came back. Now X’s foot not healing within his (our) preferred window and he’s good with coming back this year is SUPER huge to keep building. At least to me anyway. It’s about damn time we see some of the bounces go our way. Maybe, just maybe we’ve paid our debit for killing Myles Brands goat. Or was he the satan himself, which ever? Don’t care. At least to me anyway In the alternative, XJ coming back fully healthy might have been enough to push us over the hump in a wide open year. S16? E8? Further…with him on the roster it was certainly possible. Either way, him coming back next year should be coup for us. realTomCrean, Joe_hoopsier and J34 3 Quote

Buuuut, In after thought, could it be better that he returns this year, as a foundation so success can stay equal or even gain, instead of having a step backwards year? I don’t know the answer obviously, but to me I think him being back is greater than an E8 run last year, for program longevity sake. just an opinion of course. J34 and HoosierHoopster 2 Quote

Would XJ have been guarding Pack and/or Wong and/or any of their other guards when they were wide open from deep behind the line? Would XJ have been able to grab all of the rebounds that led to 5,529 second chance points for Miami? Yes, XJ would have helped in this game. We might have been able to keep it within single digits has XJ had an above average game. It amazes me players before eleventy times themselves when not available. We would have kept the game closer if Geronimo and/or Bates played half as well as many projected them over last off-season. Miami was the far better team in that game. Our "advantage" in that game failed to rebound after playing pretty solid first shot defense. Let's actually get better this off-season and do better in the regular and post seasons next year.
