Need to keep the wheels rollin' against the Wildcats (18-7) (9-5).   NW on a 3-game winning streak and a huge win Sunday over the Toiletmakers.

Radio

Live Stats

From Woody this morning.

On Trayce Jackson-Davis: “I just don’t see a lot of holes in his game now…a lot of people talk about how he doesn’t shoot jump shots. Well, ****, he does everything else.”

“I don’t like playing seven guys…that’s just something that happened the other day. And hopefully I can stay away from that by getting some healthy bodies back.”  "It's no knock on Kaleb or CJ because they have given us some positive minutes this season."

On Miller Kopp going back to Northwestern one final time: "I go back to the NBA when you get traded, you always want to go back prove them why they shouldn't have traded you." Said he is going to talk to him a little bit about relaxing for tomorrow's game.

Trayce Jackson-Davis' legacy: "Winning a Big Ten title and a national title will separate in terms of his career, and that's what I'm pushing for. I want nothing but the best for the kid. He's played his @$$ off for us."

Hopefully Kopp isn't tired after playing a game tomorrow and is ready to let some shots fly for the game on Wednesday.

Unofficial Depth/Injury Report

Northwestern is aiming to make their 2nd ever NCAA Tournament this season if they finish off strong. Northwestern has used its same starting 5, as they are one of the better defensive powers in the B10 this year. Offensively, they are like #95 in the Kenpom. Starting off, 6’9 215 F Robbie Beran (has been a decent player for the Cats, 8.9 PPG), 7’0 255 C Matt Nicholson (Leads teams in rebounds), 6’3 185 G Ty Berry (One of NW’s best rebounders), 6’2 185 Boo Buie (NW’s leading scorer, best player, and get hot quick), and 6’4 200 Chase Audige (NW’s best defensive player, 2nd leading scorer, and likely B10 DPOY). Minutes distributed is fair between Beran (28.4 MPG), Berry (26 MPG), and Nicholson (20 MPG). However, Audige and Buie mainly play for about 34+ MPG if they stay out of foul trouble. They do not turnover the ball a lot in Conference play, but like us, they foul a lot too averaging around 16.6 fouls per game.

They like to play at least 8 deep from the bench and it’s usually 6’6 215 G Brooks Barnhizer (Increased his role), 6’9 235 F Tydus Verhoeven (Subs in for Beran and Nicholson), and 6’3 180 G Julian Roper (NW’s best 3 pointer shooter, but has been facing injuries). 6’7 200 F Nick Martinelli has been seeing playing time due to Roper.

Injury report-

G Julius Roper- Will have missed 3 straight games (Not playing against Purdue) due to screwing up his ankle

F Luke Hunger- Out for the rest of the season

Work our tails off on the defensive end and defensive glass. Minimize 2nd chance points and fight for 50/50 balls. Get out running every possible chance and convert. Have TJD and JHS do their thing. Get contributions from Trey and Tamar for a nice bounce back, and have Kopp sprinkle in three 3s.

Would def like to see the return of our inside-out perimeter game, they’re going to have to double TJD so would think it’ll be there

As with the Rutgers game last week, I like the way the timing shapes up for the Hoosiers. One extra rest day, mitigated by a travel disadvantage. Both teams coming off emotional wins.

And IU’s last two against NW have been Ls. This team’s leaders will want some measure of revenge. Should keep them motivated , and their reward should be a rabid home crowd on Saturday.

And having watched them just beat PU our guys should come in after film more ready than they otherwise might.

We're just such a different team than Puredoo.

Northwestern beat Puredoo because NW has a kinda slow but very big post who was able to get Edey to catch farther from the basket than usual, and because they were able to rattle Purdue's undersized freshman point guard and deny catch and shoot threes from Purdue's other freshman guard.

If Northwestern beats us none of those things will be why.

We need our guards to at least limit Buie and Audige. I like Gallo and JHS here, but those guys are a challenge.

...has better guards than Purdue and kept them in check.  Purdue has trouble whenever their guards don't shoot well. Arguably NW beat IU at Assembly Hall for the same reason, i.e., their guards outplayed IU's guards. One of IU's guards, JHS, has been playing very well as of late so that may not be the case on Wednesday.

Weird, you’re quoting me but that isn’t my post - it’s Stuhoo’s post

Wasn't the NW game when JHS had 33 points
