I loved that game…even though BYU undefeated at number 9 not necessarily overrated but did not play in big ten or another power 5 conference..

Tuttle was pretty bad last year when he started in Penix's place. And I'm guessing he must not show much in practice, because IMO, there have been a handful of times where benching Bazelak would've been warranted -- yet they don't do it.

As far as Penix -- I'm not sure how his success at Washington is embarrassing for IU. He got hurt every single year he was here -- one time while just running out of bounds.  I'm happy for him that he's having success in Seattle. I might be in the minority, but I don't see that as a huge negative for IU. Not sure what more anybody in Bloomington could've done for him. It's just crappy misfortune for the Hoosiers.

Agreed. The simple fact is that we couldn't risk him taking first team reps all spring and then getting hurt again. I'm happy for him and am cheering for him but letting him walk was absolutely the right decision.

Regarding IU administration and fans wanting and demanding whatever…let it be said that OSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Penn State and the others are doing the same.  In IU’s defense though there are many schools who may do somewhat better…IU football is in a tough situation that there are also many schools that would struggle to do any better than IU football playing in the league they play in.

Is it too much to ask for mediocrity?

"Jack and I met last week and had a really, really great time together and just open and honest conversation about him and appreciate everything he's done for us," Allen said. "And he's going to leave Indiana here with two degrees. And most recently he'll be getting his MBA from our Kelley School of Business. So doing everything we can to help him finish up that way. But he has a desire to want to play his final year. So doing everything I can to support him in that."

Tuttle is the backup. He's gonna finish the season, then transfer.

These coaches give such high praise for a player…I get it J.T.has excellent character to deal with the mess called IU football.

LoL and B.S.

and then let him set on bench behind a qb that throws an interception on first play of game to start game and throws interception on his first play to start half number 2.  Plus C.B. has been inconsistent missing on throws that are costly during the entire season.

What I'm trying to figure out is... How can a guy who likely will never play a single snap unless Baezlak gets injured be the team captain?  I get he did a great job pulling the team together in the off-season, but what's the thought process behind "you are the team leader... But you will not have any meaningful impact on the field whatsoever".

This just goes back to Allen's over reliance on the transfer portal over development.

I'm kind of shocked this made the headlines of the ESPN's NCAAF page.

ESPN likes to kick us when we're down. The "first to 700 losses" got some traction in the media as well, and some non-IU fans who were bothered by our success 2 years ago were quick to pounce.

I personally think captains are overrated, but you won’t find a single guy on that team who doesn’t love and respect Tuttle. I actually think him being named a captain with no on-field impact proves that.

I'd read Dexter was the backup.  I find it hard to believe that Tuttle see's the field at all (regardless of QB injuries).
