Kokomo Monster (2024) - C Flory Bidunga to Kansas

Recommended Posts

Russ Wood of Rivals from Thursday's Top 100 Camp

One of the top four players in the 2024 class, and the No. 1 center, Flory Bidunga was the most dominant player we watched on Thursday. He made all eight of his shot attempts – most of them thunderous dunks – on the way to 17 points, and grabbed nine rebounds.

A very active 6-foot-10, 230-pounder, Bidunga was impressive defensively. On the perimeter he was comfortable switching on screens to guard a smaller player and in the paint his presence is respected by drivers.

Bidunga only sent one shot back in the game we watched but he has nine blocks in four games. He seems to challenge just about everything.

Flory not planning on taking anymore visits per Rab. Doesn’t look good for us. He is still talking to our coaching staff but I believe we have a small chance here.

Has he said when he plans to commit?

Before his senior year at Kokomo starts, which I believe is the first week of August (I'm old enough to remember when we didn't go back until the end of August). So within the next 3-4 weeks we should know. Unfortunate he's not taking another visit but I think that has more to do with his busy playing schedule than anything else. He's been in Bloomington more than any recruit should need and we've continued to show interest all the way so at this point I'd say the staff has done everything within reason to get him. It just all comes down to what he wants. Duke and Cincy scare me the most but truthfully I could see him going anywhere out of these main 5-6 schools. He's done a tremendous job of not leaking much info.

Before his senior year or senior season? I haven't seen any quotes but are you sure it's year and not season?

Disappointing, but it's not like we were ever an overwhelmingly perceived leader despite his numerous visits to Bloomington.  Re-double our efforts on Queen and Ngongba.

It is kind of weird because of all the times he came here on his own. Also it appeared he really enjoyed himself here.  It is funny that UC seems to be out of it as well even though for the longest time they were the perceived leaders.

If we get Derrick Queen it’ll be just fine.  Kid is on a rampage.  I love Bidunga as much as any recruit though. Great kid with enormous potential.

If we don’t, I don’t think we get Ngongba, and by every account Ware is a 1 year solution.  So then it’s probably best to portal shop at that point.

He's not that good. We didn't want him anyway. ;)

Disappointing but not surprising. Fortunately, this coaching staff is recruiting several other quality centers who are good enough that I wouldn't even consider them (at least Queen) as "backup" options to Bidunga. What a refreshing change from the last 20+ years where the coaches seemed to focus on a single player for a position then scramble when he chose another school.
