I still don't get how you buy out Archie Miller to bring in Mike Woodson.

But evidently, that's IU athletics for you these days.

One AD makes 2 huge mistakes in extending Crean then hiring Archie, next AD says "hold my beer".

Because nobody else wanted it

And I reiterate….IU isn’t qualified to land Woodson. He could’ve waited and got another pro job.

It isn’t a perfect fit, but IU didn’t do him any favors. If anything, he did IU a favor.
Not so sure he could pull the kind of money from the NBA he is getting here. He had zero shot at getting a head NBA coaching job again imo and he is getting 3 million per year here

You are 100% correct.  Sampscum cheating like he did put us in a bind and the best we could get is a coach who is now on the hot seat at Georgia, a football school.  Archie was a big let down and nobody but Woodson was really interested.  So here we are.

What he did isn't even illegal then and wasn't that big of a deal at the time, we just insisted on doing the NCAAs job for them and screwed ourselves.

I am trying to figure out why Race didn’t guard him tighter!  We should have pressured Harper all the way up the floor. Everyone knew but us that Harper was taking the last shot!

Barring a miracle, we are pretty much done.  Again, another year not being in the NCAA tournament.  Blame that 5 game losing streak!

He didn't end up here because we didn't ask. Only Beard know's if he would come here or not. If in 5 years he goes to UNC or DUKE, then where's your argument stand?

I can’t say anything for sure, but your alma mater, which may have the deepest pockets in all of sports, opens up. On top of that, he is divorced but still has children that live in Texas. He wasn’t going to end up anywhere but Texas.

Maybe we should have asked but have some common sense, he wasn’t going to end up here.

This is soooooo wrong. Woody has been begging for this job for decades

So would you have been happy with the next hot thing -- Porter Moser?  Nobody was comming here.  Face it.

The baseline is literally missing the tournament 10 out of the last 14 years.... SO UM, I'd be happy with a tournament.

I thought Glass was bad, didn't think he'd be replaced with a guy who hired a coach based on "he played here over 40 years ago and no one else wants him".

Excuses will be made, players outs, refs, lucky bounces, wind blowing against us, blah blah blah

We didn't put in the work over the summer, reinforce in the cupcake season, and have it drilled in by conference season. This loss stings because we should have had it but not taking care of business in games earlier set the stage.

Ditto for the individual games. Sure, we "haven't learned how to win" because we haven't learned how to play the right way. That goes for the first 4 minutes and the last 4 minutes. Maybe one year we'll figure it out and make the dance. Although, we do have a jabbers chance at purdoodo and in the Big 1.o tourney.

We'll shed some players, hype up the returning players for more than they are, and place any transfers or recruits on 1st team All-Big 1.o before they step foot on the campus. We'll be shocked when those weaknesses are glaring early in the season and we'll get to discuss who is a fan again. Good times!

Painfully correct.  I'm done expecting or hoping we improve because of player improvement.  How many of thse guys have the exact same deficiencies as they did as freshmen - poor decision making, poor FT shooting, developing more range, etc..

Honestly the only improvement I saw this season was better overall team defense (likely because we no longer run that stupid packline garbage).

One thing (among many) that confuses me  ...

During TJD's presser discussing his decision to stay, he was jacked up about how he was gonna spend the offseason and this extra year working on his deficiencies. He was gonna learn to go to his right and develop a mid-range jumper.

Flash forward 9 months: He still can't go to his right and still has no mid-range jumper.

I agree; however, He still cheated after he was told to stop.  Plus there were a lot of players who didn’t go to class and there was drug use

Both way better jobs than IU.  Sorry.

My guess: just like his FT shooting, he wasn't committed to doing what he needed to do to improve.

And IU had zero shot getting anyone remotely as competent as Woodson. So here we are.

IU hired a nobody in mike davis. A retread on probation in Sampson, who promptly screwed us. We begged an average mid major coach in crean to come who had to be paid extra before he even coached a game just so he didn’t leave. And a promising young coach in Archie who crashed and burned in record time.

Stevens played IU’s desperation to force out Ainge in Boston and Indiana fans think he was really interested.

Literally, no one worth a **** has been remotely close to this job for 20 years. And you guys are talking about poaching successful P5 coaches. It’d be laughable if it weren’t so sad (mainly because I’man IU fan).

Oh I know the program was a mess behind the scenes.  Doesn't change we gave ourselves a figurative death penalty over too many text messages.

You have to want to do it, and as many times as he disappears during games, I didn’t really expect him to make vast improvements. I think back when he was being recruited their were a few comments about his “motivation or drive.”

I’m sorry but if those guys are limited then so is Race!

Race is limited.  However, he's the only one who showed any improvement this year.  From taking the ball up the court, to hitting a few threes, at least he improved.  Who else did?  The guys who where supposed to be "shooters" aren't.  You surround a 4 year kid like Race with some legit talent and it's a different team.  We need talent, bad.

Yes I thought that was weird. What did they do work on it for a couple days and just give up? Never seen someone of his caliber say their going to work on something and not even improve a tiny bit

Our turnovers were better.
