IU fans are mild, imho. We’ve made 4 tournaments in the past 13 years. Conference record over .500 three times in the past 13 years. Two sweet 16s. Zero elite 8s.

How do Kentucky fans handle that? How do Duke fans? Kansas? UNC? We all know the answer. No blueblood program would put up with what we’ve put up with for more than a decade. We pride ourselves on “doing things the right way,” but there’s little honor in losing. Our team’s at home watching most years while the big boys flip the NCAA the finger and reap the rewards.

My brain extrapolating. If Woodson fails where does Indiana turn in 3 years?  Is the Indiana brand dead?  Is it already dead.  Is Woodson our last hope to remain/redeem Blue Blood status.  Do we pay someone 8 mil a year to fix this mess.  Do we fold and try to win football games and hire the next mid major savant?  Can Woodson SOS?  Inquiring minds need to know.  Whatever Woodson and his very experienced staff has decided with this offense is straight offensive, and I’m offended.

Stream of thought.

There are only a few bluebloods left in college basketball and we currently aren't.

But there is no reason that a winning, 'non-brand' program can't be built.  I believe there are five teams in the top ten currently that have never won a national title.

Beat an O$U team handily that was a little different after coming back from their COVID break

Beat a cellar dweller

Lost our mind before losing the game, still turning the ball over because we didn't get it in the middle of their "pressure" (this loss is okay because it's on the road)

Managed to get over the hump after stumbling a bit late in the second to get our first roadie at THE cellar dweller

Won our super bowl (!!) with Rob having the game of his career

I guess we should schedule those team meetings every 2.5 games to remember to play with e and listen to the coach!

Alright man relax I was just listing the games that happened after the penn state game

I'd like to get an as comprehensive as possible definition of blue blood from the college basketball world. I believe we're still a blue blood. I don't believe we're anywhere close to being an elite program. The other blue bloods are still at that elite status. We'll eventually get back there.

I'm r-e-l-a-x(ed). Just adding a little more context to the discussion. It would be interesting to know where that magical 5 game cutoff came from, but the world may never know.

What college kid in their right or wrong mind would schedule an 8 am class?! Although, I guess if you're still up running at 4-5 am you'd prefer to be going to class at 8 am over going to class a little later.

I had a 6 am, 5 days a week. Was in the top 3 of my major, drank and smoke until way to late most every night. Missed one class in two years.

If you own your future, you don't let people down, especially yourself. It defines your future or limits your options.

Someone said didn’t we win 4 out of 5 after that game and I listed the games. Glad to know every win we have shouldn’t count and each loss should count double!

The same place where the magical 'talk not action' statement came from.  How many games do you want to wait before it was just 'talk'?

I think we just vary on our definitions here.  When I say we aren't blue bloods, I mean we haven't played like blue bloods in quite a while.

Those classes are scheduled for them. I had a Tuesday/Thursday class at 8am my soph-o-more year that had a bunch of athletes in it including Michael Lewis and Randle El. Gotta leave the afternoons open for practice and traveling to games, at least in the pre-Zoom/pandemic/distance learning days.

FWIW, I don't care whether our players smoke weed or not.  But (supposedly) sneaking out of the team hotel and being somewhere they shouldn't have been at the time to me says they certainly weren't focused on the upcoming game.  Throwing weed in just adds the element that they likely were in public putting the University in an embarassing position of having to deal with the media attention that goes along with that.  And that's certainly not a good look to a lot of recruit's parents.

(alledgedly)

The most recent coaching search tells us where the brand is at now. We hired someone no other team in the conference would’ve hired, and someone we wouldn’t have hired if he didn’t play here 40 years ago. Some will cite his ‘experience,’ but it’s not like anyone in either college or the NBA was beating down his door to make him their head coach.

Woody doesn’t look like the kind of coach who can win with mediocre talent. Most coaches can’t, so he’s not unique in that regard. But he’s not recruiting at a high enough level to make up for it. JHS looks nice, but Bates did too. He’s been a dud. In conference play he’s scoring 2.7 ppg on 24% from the field. Definitely not what I was expecting. JHS better be ready because the team will need him from day 1.

We’re a middling team this season and have been a middling program for the past 15 years. Some will blame the fans, but the program should be happy that it still has fans at this point.

Bates will take a big step forward next year!  Davis for Wisconsin didn’t have the greatest freshman numbers either and look where he is now.  Not saying Bates will put Davis like numbers, but I think he greatly improve next year.

Maybe. We’ll certainly need him to. This season he’s looked more like a guy ranked outside the top 100 than a guy ranked in the top 30, and he’s been making poor decisions off the court as well.

So I think this is a catching point between my posts and those reading the posts. Please show me where in any of my posts about games that we won or lost I said we shouldn't have won or the loss should count double. I'm placing text on a website and you're interpreting that text. I can't determine how you're interpreting that text, that's something you can control. Let's walk through this

Was O$U the same after returning from their COVID break? Did you miss the word handily?

Where is Minny in the standings? Are they a good team?

Did we not lose our mind in the second half at Iowa? Go read the game thread, a lot of people saw that happening. Is 20+ turnovers not losing your mind?

For the Nebrasketball game, what happened? Are they not THE cellar dweller? They finally won a conference game to their fellow cellar dwellers.

Did Rob not have the game of his career? Remember him finally getting over his confidence issues?

Again, this is how you're interpreting what I'm posting. These things actually happened. The bigger issue is how we've played this season. Many want to overlook that hoping it's not true. We have intelligent fans that can see it. Instead of recognizing it and discussing it we want to go after fellow posters who are talking about it. The signs have been there for a long time. (they even show in wins!!)

Time and place. Fri night in the summer, have a good ol’ time with some brews or weed, if that’s your thing.

But the night before a game is idiotic. Not only violating team rules, but from a physical  standpoint. There’s 30 games a year. About half those are on the road. Being prepared and in bed on time the night before a game is the bare minimum level of discipline.

None of this actually addresses what you said:  'we talk about don't have actions'.  Everything else you posted is just a spin to try to make a point.

1.  We beat Ohio State.  Your excuse:  'they weren't the same'.  Yet no one has beaten them as bad as we did prior to the break nor after the break.

2.  If you can spin beating Minnesota into a bad performance, more power to you.  They were 10-2 at the time.

3.  Yep, we played absolutely horribly in the second half of the Iowa game.  No one disputes that.

4.  Cool, Nebraska is a cellar dweller.  But that is most certainly a game that we've lost in past seasons and it's also a game that we most certainly could have let slip away when TJD went down.  But I guess that doesn't count either.

5.  Isn't a player actually having the game of his career the embodiment of action, not talk?  We beat the team currently ranked third yet somehow that one doesn't count either.

So you deflect again, what about that 6th game? (bth I'd want to forget that game too) I guess if we don't show up for the game we can excuse it completely as not an e and e issue because we never really "got on the court."

It actually didn't even take that many games. We lost our minds at Iowa. Do you think it's possible that some of the on court issues are reflective of the off court issues..? Maybe the team should have meetings ever 2.5 games to remember they need to play hard and listen to their coach.

talk not action - Where are these developed players? There was a lot of talk, where are the results?

(read that again, we're having to remember to play hard and listen to the coach. That's where we are, needing a reminder to play hard and listen. ouch)
