Game Thread: vs. Eastern Michigan 11/9 - 6 pm - BTN

Recommended Posts

Noah Farrakhan ended up with 18 points on 5-21 shooting. (3-7 from 3pt.)

Think he started out 0-11 though so I'd say he finished very strong. Could be wrong but I know for a fact it was at least 0-9.

So after I slept on it I'm still discouraged. I have to separate what transpired with Archie and Woody's start here because that's not fair to Woody but man that was disappointing. The first half wasn't bad and had some very encouraging moments but the 2nd half was no bueno. Let's hope things look better Friday and going forward there is continued improvement.

I was speaking more on Leal. Lander is a good ball handler.

Misunderstood you. Saw you clamoring for Lander last night so assumed you were referring to him. I can only assume his defense hasn't improved enough to get him into the lineup

I am pretty sure it was just the women's. they moved it back to international to match the men's. that is why there is now only 1 line on the court.

Yeah you might be right but I know a university that just moved theirs back on their court before the start of the season so I'm not sure why they would've done that then.

Mechanics wise? Definitely Johnson. His shot looks like a video game glitching.

I can't tell yet if it was a one-off occurrence, but Bates feet on a 3 he took in the first half looked incredibly awkward to me.

I am with you. I want to root for the kid, but I have no idea what Galloway brings to this team that it doesn't already have. Yes he can handle the ball, but this team doesn't struggle in that area. He isn't some great defender that he is billed to be (maybe he is in the right spot but he does get beat often).

And last, this team doesn't have shooting and galloway is among the worst. Please play anthony leal, I am not saying he is going to light it up, but he can shoot and is a fine defender. Galloway imo is what he is unfortunately.

I’m not really a big Galloway fan either. He plays hard but that should be the expectation for every player and not something that, by itself, gets you on the court. He’s just kind of out there doing cardio when he plays. He’s not a threat on offense. He can’t shoot. He’s not a defensive specialist. Maybe he’ll be a rotational player when he’s an upperclassman but he’s not one on a good team at this point.

Yeah one just signed his NLI today

Don't be so sure.  I've watched him play alot.  He likes to shoot the 3.  If he is good at it is another question.  The potential, length, and athleticism is all there but counting on him being a + shooter from jump is highly unlikely.

The four guys that transferred (Durham, Brunk, Franklin, and Hunter) were a combined 9 of 30 from the field and 4 of 15 from three.  Lack of coaching in the past is going to take to overcome…..it wasn’t just the guys we retained that shot poorly.

I never said from jump but the fact that he holds the record for 9 in a game at LN is impressive with all the talent that Keefer has had there. Yes, I know a single game all it takes is to get hot but that tells me that the potential is there to work with.

I blame high school coaches. No kid should leave HS with such bad mechanics.

The problem with that is if they are a good shooter in high school or aau or whatever then in many cases the high school coaches are afraid they might mess things up so they choose not to mess with it. Sometimes making a kid have better form doesn't actually make them a better shooter. If a kid has bad form and can't shoot then you should be working to improve that form in high school and definitely before the kid gets to college.

His feet were a little wide. Some guys do that. I care more about the rotation and release. If that's good than a kid has a chance to be a decent shooter or better.

It's really never going to get better. But at a young age, it should be worked on. A big thing is not having kids jack 3s from Curry range at 8 years old.
