Class of '66 Old Fart

(2025) - PG Jalen Haralson to Notre Dame

Recommended Posts

OV the weekend of Aug. 31.  The following is from Rivals.

One of the top players in the 2025 high school class has set a date for an official visit to Bloomington.

Per reports, five-star guard Jalen Haralson will visit Indiana the weekend of Aug. 31, the same weekend as Indiana football's season opener against Florida International.

Haralson has set dates for two other visits besides Indiana. The seventh ranked prospect in the 2025 class will also visit Notre Dame and Michigan State on the following two weekends.

Haralson's recruitment is now down to nine schools. Indiana, Duke, Kansas, Auburn, Purdue, Missouri, Gonzaga, Notre Dame and Michigan State are all vying for the talented guard's services.

Playing for Indy Heat on the Nike EYBL Circuit, Haralson has averaged 21.4 points and 5.6 rebounds a game on 46.1% shooting from the field this spring.

This will not be Haralson's first time on campus, as the La Lumiere star has long been a top target for the Hoosiers.

Fellow top priority targets in the class of 2025 Trent Sisley, Braylon Mullins and Malachi Moreno are also set to visit Indiana in the fall.

Would you be cool with Haralson and Thomas as our 25' class with 4 transfers or more?

Absolutely if the transfers were guys we prioritized. That is the game now.

Did he really call Peeyew “now that’s the hometown school?” I don’t follow recruiting no where near like I used to (thank goodness). To me, it doesn’t sound good for us.

He's not going to Purdue

Joe Tipton put in a prediction for IU for Jalen Haralson. Have been told that going OTE/professional route is still a strong possibility but if he does indeed play collegiately, IU has of good of a chance as anybody.

The article states he received an IU offer, which was his first offer, before he ever played a high school game. Investing the time and effort of three years of recruiting and he might go pro anyway…LOL. Sometimes the portal doesn’t look so bad.

I was all for this guy as a frosh then I got around things a bit and I was turned off by everything about him except the talent. No one has ever said anything positive about playing with him. I think Notre Dame is a great spot for him.

In a recent conversation with Raby, Haralson indicates his goal is to make a decision before his LaLu season starts.

& that he sees Woodson as family. Personally think we’re going to get him and Mullins.

the direct quote is “almost like family” with the wording.

I haven’t been around this summer like I have in years passed. Are Hoosiers fans going somewhere else nowadays to get IUBB news or has it been this quiet? I was hoping to get on and get all kinds of scoop but there’s not a whole lot to see here

Woody has done a fine job this off season but we won't have anything new until late September.  Maybe Haralson and Mullins will have a decision date then. There's a strong emphasis this year to be less heavy in the portal and more towards the high school side. Woody needs to score points with the boosters by landing one of the 2 I mentioned, a post player and an immediate contributor.

Rob Cassidy's take on must get prospects - Jalen Haralson

Must get for: Indiana

A cocktail of factors have combined to make everything Indiana does this year feel massively important. The fact that the Hoosiers missed the NCAA tournament a year ago and limped to the recruiting finish while doing so has a lot of people in and around Bloomington on edge these days.

Losing Malachi Moreno to Kentucky last week was probably annoying, but that disappointment will pale in comparison to what happens if the Hoosiers watch one of the top-ranked prospects in their own state walk away to Notre Dame, Purdue, Michigan, Kansas, Missouri or Michigan State. The year ahead will either see Mike Woodson restore some of the good will he lost last season or place him squarely on the hot seat.

What happens with Haralson won’t determine that, but it will play a role in shaping public perception as the season plays out.

I’m not doubting you but just curious if you think that the “strong emphasis” is from the staff, administration, you, boosters and/or fans?
I agree it would be great to get at least one of Mullins and Harrelson but as far as a big man at this point I feel a proven guy in the portal might be the best solution.

I have a friend that's family has been boosters since RMK. Now theyre just your average booster. I was told in February that a BOOSTER was preparing to get heavily involved. It could only be one of two groups and Woody answered that question on senior night. So the face of the richest family in the state has become the unofficial owner and GM of the IU Mens Basketball team. Everything I was told has happened. If he meets expectations and it all works to plan recruiting will open up. I will be shocked if Haralson doesn't verbal shortly after his visit. Developing a hs center is something they would like to add to the big man pitch. Kenya Hunter is great with bigs. They threw everything at Moreno, even added Howard to the staff, he just happened to live 20min from UK campus and that's impossible to overcome.

This is my opinion, I think Woody will always be after the best big in the portal, I'm just not sure the continued depth of talent in the portal at the 5 will hold up.

This is good news. And as far as portal bigs (5s), they are always gonna be there because of the financial incentive.
