Queen mention. Basically just a summary of what we already know. The really interesting one here is Ian Jackson. He’s said over and over that he’s signing with UNC, but nobody seems to believe him.

So this thread is reasonably likely to blow up today with the announcement of a pending announcement in the next day or two.

Yeah, I really, really hope that reducing his choice to the former NBA Coach vs the former Seton Hall Coach is how Maryland tries to couch this thing. ‘Cause that be some strategery right there.

Woodson doubled that - last year alone... Yeah, I'd very much welcome that being the hill this recruitment is fought on.

Not to mention it is categorically untrue.

Woody flat-out overachieved in year one. Making the tourney with a new team and Race, Miller, and Parker Stewart in the starting lineup was strong. Last year? Arguable.

With the Knicks and Hawks? Waaaaaay overachieved. I also wonder if Woody underachieved on the coaching staff that won that, ummmmm, NBA title. And then of course, there's Willard, who... I have no idea what he's done of note, other than doing a fine-enough job at Seton Hall and taken the helm at the major program near Derik Queen's home, which is definitely worth something.

Does anyone else ever wonder if Queen (or any other player, for that matter) gets more than a little tired of people trying to push him towards one school or another? I could see that happening after a while.

When he's ready and that's not a snarky comment that's exactly where it's at.  Everything I'm seeing indicates he's torn between us and MD and isn't being pressured from anyone in his corner to make an announcement until he's 100% certain that's where he wants to go.

Ware putting up a double double, 3 or 4 blocks and 3 or 4 assists and shooting double digit FT attempts was a big win from a recruiting perspective.  Cant forget about Malik either.  He put up his share too.  

If Queen doesn't see what CMW is showcasing with big men, then it wasn't/isn't meant to be

If Derik Queen is perceptive, he does not see his IU role as comparable to KelEl Ware, or TJD for that matter. His IU comp is Malik Reneau.

Wonder if Queen looks at IU's roster next year and sees two bigs that are similar to him in Reneau and Sparks. Maybe he doesn't see a guarantee spit to start so that could give him a second thought

So we should be finding out his choice within the next week if he's going to sign before the spring which I believe it has been stated he wants to do. Any day now...

If the guys were discussing I’d say TJD is closest. Craftier, well rounded game, and dominant.

Maybe you have seen something I haven’t but he is not an NBA “4” no matter how hard he works. 

They (Queen & TJD) aren’t even close to the same type of player imho. I don’t see the comparison. Queen’s best comp is Jokic. Not saying he will ever be that good or impactful on the game but their styles are similar. Both big bodied, plodding bigs, who get by on skill, not athleticism. Guys who can change the game with their ability to pass and see the floor. If Woody can convince him that he can develop him more in that mold, it’s a more realistic sell.

Not a rim protector or elite athlete. Relies on next level footwork for their primary scoring area in the low post. In theory both are excellent high and low post passers, though Malik didn’t show that last night.

To me it seems that Malik is the top 50 version of that player and Queen is the five star version.
