Candidate Thread: Brad Stevens (Boston Celtics)

An NBA guy going to a college team in the middle of the season is just a tough deal to pull off.

Coaches get fired all the time mid season in the NBA.  The Celtics ain’t winning nothing this year so it really isn’t going to break the franchise.

This is as far fetched as it gets!  Brad isn’t going to wait for any job.  Not saying Belien isn’t a candidate but the rest of his story is just stupid to put it bluntly.

Plus, he could potentially get run out of Boston too with the fans and rumors of him conflicting with Ainge

Any chance Brad wants some time off assuming he leaves Boston soon?  Think Beilein running things for a few months doesn’t sound plausible to me unless those 2 have some connections.

I find it incredibly unlikely that Beilein would run things for a few months just so that Brad could take over. We already have an interim staff in place, and Beilein is on record saying he has no interest in being an Assistant Coach like Martelli, and I can't imagine he would just come for a few months prior to leaving.

I don’t disagree at all. Where did you see Beilein say he did not want to be a Martelli like assistant

I wish I could find it, but it was somewhere in the 1200+ pages of the other thread. I believe, if I'm not mistaken, that it was on a podcast that was done relatively recently when he was asked directly if he had any interest in a lead assistant job similar to what Martelli is doing for Howard at Michigan and he said no.

Have you heard anything about Coach Roberts making any calls to a recruit? Feeling comfortable about saying who he thinks will be the new coach. Heard something that makes me smile.

Oh man getting pumped now. No going back for me brad or nothing

Belein isn’t going to just coach for a few months.  Brad either takes the job or he doesn’t.  He has to think this is probably his last opportunity to do so here.
That's a solid point. If he truly, still at some point, wants to coach at IU it's most likely now or never.

Did you bring enough for the whole class? Have to tell us since you put it out there for all of us to see.
