Then why is Iowa presumably going to stretch themselves financially to NOT hire a guy who is in their own backyard? I just have a hard time diving into the deep end on a guy 99.9% of you didn't even know they existed 3 months ago.

Not gonna rehash our arguments from last week its just too big a risk, if he's truly the only option then sure give him a shot BUT plenty of smoke that suggest Will Wade is willing to listen WAY less of a risk makes much more sense. McCollum is the risk hire you make if you have no other options

Wade would work for me as well. In regards to Iowa I believe they've had Devries as their golden boy for a few years now, but honestly i do not give a shhh about what Iowa does or does not do. They're totally irrelevant as a basketball program and state to me

At times like these you just have to wonder what Mike Braun is doing? A joint-governor conference on the ineptitude and corruption of the NCAA committee would go further! Mike, you want to be re-elected? I know you're on this board - stand up for your state! In 49 states it's just basketball, but this is INDIANA

Nah. In some years, this might be a big, winning issue for the Gov.

This year, not so much. I don't think most Indiana fans really give much of a sh*t about making or making the tournament this year.

Let UNC go and get knocked out in the play-in game or the first round instead of us.

Well... how do we know McCollum wants Iowa?

Why did we not know he existed 3 months ago?

I can't imagine thinking Wade is a less of a risk than McCollum, that's just an opinion, nothing more.

What other options?

Tucker is entering the portal, per Jeff. I just checked the portal, I don't see him in it. Might be a few hours for compliance to process it.

Not a huge surprise... there were reports that his dad was "shopping" him around towards the end of the season... they were not happy with Woodson and junior's playing time, and I don't think he played at all after the MSU or UCLA games...

......sound familiar?????

JerryYeagley23 said the same thing!

Galen Clavico said something similar on his podcast last night

He told people to stop panicking on every tweet out there because nobody outside really knows anything.

So... he is literally coaching a DII team this year. In his interview he said that he put the roster together not expecting short-term success. To boot, Texas Tech's coach (who Drake would face in the next round) credits McCollum for remaking McCasland's offensive system. I'm not going to hold Drake's results against him this year, regardless of who IU hires.

Great.  So how does he go from that to putting together a competitive Big10 roster?  He'll be a work in progress.  So us fans will indeed need patience.

Maybe McCollum feels like he could do better at IU vs Iowa given their NIL?   It’s possible Iowa already spoke to McCollum (as we think IU did) and he thinks IU is in a better place to win.

just a thought.  Anyway, I trust Dolson. He had Pearl and May ready to go a year ago.

That will not matter no matter who the coach is.  Let’s not kid ourselves.  For the first half of the first season there will be a honeymoon period and will extend its going well.  That’s it.  It has been that way since the turn of the century.  Be even more extreme now with the rise of the portal and NIL money.

Okay, so like this one time, at band camp, I met Brad Stevens. Brad was banging Mary Jane Rottencrotch from Terre Haute, (she played the flute), and Brad says to me afterwards, "something smells fishy". I said, "Well, it would". He said, "No, I mean at IU". I said, "Oh."

He said, "Yeah, I want to coach there one day, but I'm not sure they still want to win, and I want to win! You'd think after winning five national championships, they'd want to do the things that help you keep winning, but they don't. They just fired Bob Knight and gave his team to Mike Davis, and that's what smells fishy.

I asked if Mike Davis had been with Mary Jane Rottencrotch, the flute player from Terre Haute, and he said "no, I don't think so".

I said, it "well doesn't really matter, we're all gonna get screwed now".

Brad washed his hands, sanitized them and walked out, muttering something about "never coaching at IU".

Do we really know that though? Really? OR is that what some insiders here fed us?

Also if Iowa is going after DeVries over Golden boy then why should we be so excited about getting McCollum?

Because he's already taken?  DeVries would only be announced before because he didn't make the tournament, not because Iowa got to pick first.

Rabby is saying that the players can't enter the portal until the 24th. Man, he is totally clueless and wrong. Yet again.

It doesn't matter when they can "enter."  Guys are announcing and making their intentions knows as we speak.  Portal is just "official."
