What if it takes him a few years to get IU going as it did with Michigan. Then he's in his 70's coaching IU to get into the tourney. I'm just hoping for someone younger so we have our coach for the next so many years. Yeah, I love Beilein. The man’s as good as it gets. But if you’re hiring him, you’re doing so with a succession plan already in place. So let’s just get this out of the way right now: John Beilein plus Jordan Hulls. Tell me Hulls after sitting next to Beilein for 5 years wouldn’t be ready to roll. thebigweave, HoosierDYT, bigrod and 2 others 5

Popular Post Chris007 Posted March 1, 2021 Popular Post Posted March 1, 2021 This is not what I want but the latest info was Thad Matta with Michael Lewis as associate head coach, Drew Adams as an assistant, and then get someone with some diversity to fill out the staff. Matta would have to show he is healthy. From what I've heard he has trouble sitting through the Butler games that he attends. Rookie33, hper50, BtownStrength and 7 others 10

Matta would have to show he is healthy. From what I've heard he has trouble sitting through the Butler games that he attends. I initially was a big Thad Matta advocate -- obviously with the caveat that he's healthy. I thought after a few years away, he'd get recharged, get healthy and be ready for another run at coaching. But I'm really starting to cool to that idea. Seems as if he was essentially the victim of a botched back surgery. In reading about some of his troubles he had a few years back -- he could barley walk, he couldn't sit through a game, couldn't take his shoes or pants off after a game. Just doesn't seem as if he's recovered -- or recovered enough to be the top-notch coach he was before all this happened. I'm really cooling to him as a possibility.
rcbowla Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 I learned that by looking at some of the buyouts you can eliminate a lot of these guys. The universities clearly didn't want poachers. I also learned that most buyouts are technically the coach's debt and not the poaching university's which I found interesting. I'm sure that's a moot point through negotiations but still interesting.Sent from my Pixel 3a XL using Tapatalk Class of '66 Old Fart 1

finky Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 I'm going to step out on a sturdy limb and say Beilein will be the next IU Coach. We all know that isn't a long term solution, but, I think 4-8 years with John at the helm with the understanding succession will be sooner and not later and allow the program along with Beilein's help to plan for that isn't a bad thing..at all. I think this would excite the base and give us one of the best X's and O'x guys around...guy can flat out Coach and minus his stint in Cleveland all he has ever had is success. This is a low risk move for the Trustee's to approve. Success everywhere, stand up guy and his past players love him. ALASKA HOOSIER, Jeff_Boy_Ardee, Rookie33 and 1 other 4

But Oats has won three conference tournaments to zero for Archie, this is going to be his third year winning his conference regular season vs. one plus a split for Archie, and team ranks in computer numbers heavily favor Oats.
Trish Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 All this could be avoid if you guys would penny up your life savings and offer it to Brad Stevens including each of your possessions (cars, expensive fine jewelry, your homes) Take one for the team, guys!
