Otz is a long time assistant at Iowa State before being the coach and I believe met his wife when she was a student there.

Yes, he was an assistant at Iowa st before the SDak St and UNLV gigs.  He married a former player at Iowa St.

Again, why would he be interested in Iowa?

He wouldn’t be.

If UNC pulls the trigger, damn near half the ACC is going to be open.

I've wondered what the pulse of things is around their program. He's in year 4 and it's been peaks and valleys:

Year 1: Title game appearance.

Year 2: NIT invite (declined)

Year 3: Sweet 16

Year 4: 15-11 and on the outside looking in.

How is he viewed by fans, admin, players? Has he kept good recruiting ties and solid relationships with assistant coaches?

.....Has he asked for a guarantee on a fifth year? Lol

Oklahoma is still a tourney team

Not for long.  They just fell to 3-10 in conference.   They are hanging on for dear life with their non con results that were really good.    Got to win some games moving forward or they will play themselves out of a bid

Would think it would be tough to fire a guy who won the conference and was COY just last year. And he has a good class coming in. But it still feels like it’s declining. I was reading about his contract at 1 point and he needs to punch his agent in the throat. The school owes his full base salary through I think 27-28, but despite him making almost 4 mil a year, only something like 400k is base salary. So if they fire him his buyout is only about 1.25 mil. That’s insane.

"the idea that Pitino would be a great fit with Indiana is likely never going to turn into a reality. But, it's a fun idea to think about."  Not fun for me to think about. I will frigging lose my mind if IU hires that POS. I hate him with the white-hot passion of a thousand suns, and that is only half of what he deserves. On a detestable scale Pitino falls somewhere below ISIS and above cancer....but it's close. I could go on, but you get the idea.

Totally respect that. Kelvin Sampson was to me what Pitino is to you and it was a freaking misery having that guy on that bench. But the difference is there is no universe where Pitino gets this job.
