Signed an extension yesterday, yes?  Personally I think he's a year or two from getting his P5 shot.  I think it's important that he get his team into the tournament at least once.   His team was really good last year but didn't win the conference tournament and was relegated to the CBI I believe.

I would say its safe to say Beard has 2 strikes with the domestic violence and whatever that video is flying around.  Do we really want to be the university to offer the 3rd?  Some major red flags IMO

I don't think IU will hire Beard, but I also don't think popularity among IU's academic staff is going to be any kind of deciding factor. I've been on college BoTs before, and I don't think they always care about how popular the president is. In fact, in one instance, the president was brought in prescisely to "be the bad guy" and enact unpopular policies for the BoT. I have long suspected that Whitten has that kind of role for the BoT at IU. 

The votes against Whitten by professors don't really matter right now and hiring a coach that further reduces her popularity won't matter either. Heck, she just got an extension. 

However, I agree with the people who factor in Beard's record and baggage that conclude that there are much better candidates.
