What is the record length for a thread on this site?

The College Bball Thread is over 3k pages. The previously named Fire Mike Woodson thread is over 2k.

I think it’s mostly that I’m pinning my hopes on infusing something young and fresh into the program at this point instead of trying to go for instant winning success for a few years with an older coach. I think it’s great that he is religious, but I also feel that sometimes people at that age can start to have different priorities in life and other things become More important and the passion that he once had is not exactly there anymore and I would rather not take a chance on that.
I also feel that he is most likely in a better environment, religiously speaking down there in Baylor than he would be here at Indiana so it doesn’t really make sense to me on that level.

He's also "only" 54. So we could still have a 15 year run with him.  So only 6 years older than BS or Otzelberger.  He's been around forever so he feels older.  I'd be surprised if he left too; but don't think you can say no thanks if he expresses interest.

I remember Blab, but the point is we recruit and get too many players with terrible hands.

Yep... Knight said one time that Ewe had "hands of stone"...

If I remember correctly Uwe, ty for the spell check, was the equivalent to a 5☆ recruit. We had John Flowers in that class I believe, another all-American.

Isaac may have some connections, others have said he posted last year that Buckner had the votes to keep Woodson before the release came out.

I think he jumped the shark on his posts about the coaching search though.

He posted the first day he joined about that, I have the link to his first post somewhere.

I don't know that I'd say he's fading off. This is a down year, sure, but the previous three are as follows:

27-7 (14-4), tied for 1st

23-11 (11-7), tied for 3rd

24-11 (11-7), tied for 3rd

Won a game in the tourney each year. He won the title the year in 2020-21. That'd be the best stretch we've had in a long time.

That’s true and he has been great for Baylor but not overly impressive lately…he is for sure having a down year..I do not see this as a grand slam hire, but I would give it a B.

He went a little haywire about naming a date, time and station

I remember the game against Illinois where Knight benched all our starters except for Blab. The CBS announcers kept saying “We expect him to put in the starters after the first tv time out…at tge 10 minute mark…to start the second half…he’s not playing them!” We lost but Blab did pretty well. Knight thought he was the only guy showing effort in the previous games.

I will when I have heard from someone I trust that it is a done deal. Some others have heard things like that but I have not.

Also I thought it was done last time, people believed me, I felt I let them down and I got some really nasty emails from people. Just trying to avoid that

Part of the upcoming BTB Purge will be you releasing those messages so those who decided that was necessary can get shamed off the internet.

Yes, he does seem like he’s been around forever lol..and I really do think he’s the best suited for a religious school

That post to me felt like a joke, almost a tongue in cheek reaction to everyone calling him a troll. My best guess is that he was reading all the insider posts here and started creating his own fanfic in his head. Then when folks called him out he jumped off the deep end, never to be seen again. lol

Not disclosing information like this could have extremely damaging effects on the deal overall. If Brad knew he was leaving, those conversations would have had to have happened at this stage of the sale. Otherwise it could kill the entire deal.

Not trying to sound pretentious here but I have some experience dealing with M&A. High profile acquisitions like this come with extreme due diligence.

The buyers will want to have stability for the transition. Losing the league’s top front office executive may be perceived as potential instability.

Unless the new owners have their own guy lined up, it’s likely they’ll want him to stay so things continue to run smoothly.

None of this means “therefore he wouldn’t leave”. It just means that at this stage of the process, his intentions would have to be made clear.

It can really complicate things.

The only thing I might disagree with here is whether that matters for an asset like a professional sports team versus a publicly traded company. The value of the Boston Celtics isn’t at risk due to the President (potentially) leaving, or subject to market volatility. I’m not sure Stevens having one foot out the door would torpedo a sale of the Celtics the way it could for a privately held or publicly traded company.
