Oh I didn’t doubt that, I was just politely telling him to stop pushing that ha

You’d hope we’d land a more proven commodity. IU basketball should have far more pull than IU football did.

Someone please refresh my memory. Why is it that people say we can’t get McCasland?

He grew up in Texas, went to college in Texas, and his entire coaching career except 1 year has been in Texas. That 1 year, he went all the way to Arkansas.

That said, he's very high on my list and I hope Dolson tries to get him away from Texas. The guy is a winner.  He's also making only $2.9M/year.  IU can offer significantly more than that.

I think we could certainly do worse, but I just don’t see us spending that much for his buyout.

Oats is worth his buyout. Cronin I don’t think is.

Nate Oats would be my #1 option if landing him is realistic. I thought his buyout was insane though.

He’s a top 15-20 coach in the sport. So no, he’s not the top option, or one of the top-3, but again we’d be silly to not be happy with him.

He doesn’t “excite” me to the original point but acting like he’s not a good coach, or even calling him an average coach, is factually incorrect.

I think his resume is T20.. I don't think he's actually a Top 20 coach.

Show the text.   Stevens could easily do a number of things without a press conference.  Grab a reporter in the hall and go on record in s recorded interview stating that he is not interested in the IU job.  Issue a written statement and send it to media for publication.   Or tweet something himself.  Etc.  He did none of this.

Yeah, in 2021 he had the masshole comments that definitely stated that he had no interest in the IU job. I’m not saying that he does or doesn’t have interest in this job or not. But in 2021 it was a lot more clear. Until he calls himself a masshole again gotta have some faith.

Is he pushing him, or did Dolson ask Cig about him because of their connection; and he gave him a positive review?  Pretty big difference, and I hope it's the latter, as the football coach should have no say or huge influence on the decision of a basketball coach.

Yes.  I’m extremely confident Cig said his piece and then left Scott alone.  Cig knows how successful organizations work.

This.

I highly doubt Cig is knocking on Dolsons door. He is way too busy. He probably was asked and gave his opinion and that was the end of it.

I didn't go back and read, can someone please get me up to speed on the current status?

1. Sounds like an agreement was in the place yesterday morning and Stevens was (or is) going to sign a contract on Monday.

2. Goodman tweets out that Stevens told him he is not a candidate for IU and loves being in Boston. Although some are arguing that it wasn’t a hard “no” and it was soft-vague announcement.

3. Seems like no one knows what is going on right now, although it’s been reported by Rabby that the IU side believes that wasn’t an no and merely front office speak. Others are thinking this ship has sailed and it’s time to move on to candidates. Trilly thinks it’s over, but someone on said on here that is was his opinion and was pretty confused.

4. A lot of “I told you so” on here

You are special. Mick Cronin born and raised in Cincinnati Ohio

I know that but he now has coached in a different region of the country. Also I don't care where a coach comes from but I just care about their resume

It is insane, and so is Cronin’s. Oats is 18 million and Cronin 16 million I believe.

Did it looked like he had been crying? Because if I was him and I just lost Brad “FING” Stevens my face would be puffy as hell from crying so hard.

He looked pretty happy talking to Ned Pfau at halftime. Kind of unusual as we were down 10 and they just found out that Brad isn’t interested in the job

I have seen this from a few posters. Why would these people be happy? It's a bad look imo.

Wonder if the Celtics offered minor ownership? From my understanding, the company that owns the Celtics only owns like 52% of the organization and is only selling their portions of it. Seems like a similar solution again from the last time around.

Could be and if so, shows you where his interest lie and is certainly not on the front line…so if that’s the case, I’m glad he’s not coming.
