My wife is a UK fan so she follows the SEC. She said "How come Alabama and Arkansas are good all of a sudden." I said that it's because they have the right coach. I'd take Oats or Musselman in a heartbeat. I think they've done a phenomenal job. I'd like to see another year or two out of them at their respective schools but still. Mussleman was in the NBA for a long time. Switched to college a few years ago. He's done well everywhere he's been.

I know I can't have my No. 1 choice (Bennett). I know my No. 2 choice is an extreme longshot (Stevens) as is No. 3 (Beard).

My No. 4 option is this -- it's pretty far-fetched, too: I'd love to see Beilein take the reigns with Fife as his sidekick for 3-4 years, with Fife then assuming control. Initially, I hated the idea of Beilein, but I'm warming to it. If indications are that he wants to coach again, I'd be willing to gamble on him, despite his age. The guy is terrific at X's an O's.

Meanwhile, after playing for THE B1G's best and spending a handful of years under one of the B1G's best, Fife could get additional tutelage from another master. He'd still be 44 or so when taking over and his selection would assuage those who are insistent we hire an IU guy (though I am not one of them).

The thing is -- I doubt Fife would want to wait that long to again run his own program.

Probably a dumb idea, but what the hell -- there are plenty of other dumb ones here. LOL!

Thoughts on Oats or Musselman? I'm to the point I think I'd take them over Beilein or Matta.

Musselman coached Keith Smart & Jim Thomas in the CBA. Dude would coach anywhere. Justin Smith with 16 tonight

COVID did a number on Baylor’s defense

Just something to consider if they get bounced early. Before a shutdown and perhaps the health fallout from some guys having COVID, they were killer. So maybe Drew’s available earlier...

After seeing this video I wonder if there is some negotiations going on this weekend. He doesn’t want to come back to that.

What makes you say that. I watched on my admittingly small phone but looked like a guy just walking next to another guy. Now if you mean the crowd and those comments then I get it.

Don't know why, but Musselman wigs me out.

Oats? Haven't seen enough results yet, though they're not bad so far. Plus, I think he has a monster buyout. And -- not that this should factor into it -- but I've read that Kentucky has pretty much declared him the heir apparent to Cal.

Call me crazy, I can see Arkansas in the final four. It all depends on matchups. They are red hot. Have won 9 in a row.

Definitely the comments. That was a small crowd. Imagine Assembly full and letting him have it!

He’s been very good in college and has moved around a lot. To some that’s a red flag, but he’s already missed his shot in the NBA and IU’s a destination job if you get to cruising altitude, so I don’t think he’d have one foot out the door.

He was not initially on my radar but I think he’s a great option.

Oh yeah I agree with that. I have been saying that for awhile. Not only would the crowd noise be a bad look but remember the empty arena photos during the end for Crean and Davis. Those are bad looks too.

I'm with @Chris007 now. I'm on the bandwagon. At first he was maybe 10th on my list. He's in the top 5 for now. Hell, he may be number 2 behind Stevens. Like I said above I wish he would've been there for more than two years. But I like the way his team plays. They are red hot when you want a team to be red hot..at the end of the season. Probably a 2 or a 3 seed.

I know the buyout/money angle has been discussed, but I think folks are going to want to leave the house and use disposable income post-pandemic and IU could benefit if they had something new and exciting to promote. Not do much if it’s more of the same.
