Kentucky and Duke are outliers. Average salary wise, others pay their basketball coach either $500,000 to $1.5 million. I'm guessing Indiana could get someone around $5.5-6.5 million a year. Would be #3 behind Kentucky and Duke. @Chris007 Is this realistic thinking? I know this table is slightly out of date, but no way Chris Beard would leave Texas Tech with his current situation.

Surprised that Mack's agent reached out to IU. L'Ville must be getting hit hard. Stunned Tony Bennett is #18.

FWIW...Stevens annually makes 3.6 mil a year for Boston. I think Stevens' amount might be from when Boston first hired him. They signed him to an extension in 2020 but didn't release the terms.

He's making more than that now or we all assume because the Celtics didn't release the terms of most recent extension. If I had to guess I'd say he's close to $5M now.Sent from my SM-T500 using Tapatalk Stuhoo 1

Could be early as Friday afternoon. I get the vibe IU doesn't want to wait around. The talking heads on ESPN will be all over it. I can see it now, Greenburg and Bilas arguing that Indiana should've gave Archie another year and it's a "bad look" to fire a coach in a pandemic. Stuhoo, Deserthoozier, lillurk and 1 other 2 2

So while his salary is lower they are definitely valuing him big time through other means.Sent from my SM-T500 using Tapatalk

He basically said, "I'll take the extra year, but I don't need the raise. I make enough money." ... Then he pledged $500K to a career development program for current and former players. At the time, he said, "If there are ways that this can help out the athletic department, the other programs and coaches, by not tying up so much (in men’s basketball), that’s my desire.” Kinda keep waiting for something to happen to prove this guy isn't for real. Well, other than that horrible trait of averaging 65 points or so a game instead of 85 -- while winning nearly 75 percent of your games, winning league titles and an NCAA title -- in Charlottesville. thebigweave and HoosierAloha 2

I 100% agree if he is to leave it's because he and his wife are choosing to do so for reasons other than $. I give Stevens to IU the same likelihood that I have as a 38 year old out of shape guy still making it to the NBA.Sent from my SM-T500 using Tapatalk Stuhoo 1

It's not entirely relevant but it sucks for Archie, Morgan, and Leah that they are moving from their community of the last 4 years. For Brad, it would help that it's somewhat of a homecoming for him and his family, and we don't know how they, as parents, feel about their kids in Boston. Agree that an additional $1 million annually to Brad means so much less than future stability, in job security and otherwise. Have I mentioned Brad handled rushing me when I was was a wee freshman at DePauw? He was an ATO. He failed to make a successful pitch, so I feel like that's a pretty serious knock against him. I think we can do better. HoosierAloha, Chris007 and lillurk 3
