It’s a slippery slope for sure. It just seems the staff has a really hard time selling what we can offer.  We are starting to build some evidence of recruiting struggles.  (Sure-we got Ware-we have some wins). But we aren’t winning enough to build a roster that basketball heads say, damn, look out for Indiana.  That’s the level I’m hoping for.

Now basketball heads are wrong at times and teams either surprise or disappoint and I’d be fine with that too, but I’ve never wanted to be David when you are trying to be Goliath.

gotta stack multiple recruitng wins and make a formidable overall team.  Next years projected roster has more question marks than anybody wants to deal with.

If Tenn pulls both Ledlum and Knecht, lol.  This staff has suffered some strong L’s and this one will rank right up there.

I rather be David because he beat Goliath and isn't winning is what you want

I wouldn't call Knecht a loss because we we not really involved with him

This is the kind of logic that had us hold onto Crean and Archie too long. The momentum is already gone. If after the momentum is over you aren’t making small incremental progress then you are kind of done for
How do you know the momentum is gone? That is purely conjecture on your part. I don't know if it is or not , but we are only 2-3 weeks from the end of the season.

We just lost the real National Player of the year and a One and done talent.  As well as 2 other starters.

And we have added exactly one instant impact player. We MIGHT be better or the same next year. But there is no sane argument for it.

I guess current players can't develop and the new players can't be better than expected.  I have seen teams lose great players and we're better without them.  I am not saying we will but it is possible and rather look for positives instead of always looking for negatives. Purdue lost Ivey a top 5 pick plus two there starters and they ended up having a better year.

To each their own. We wanted to be involved. So I guess it’s a quick L on this one.

Maybe we still get a better player somewhere, I’m not saying we won’t, but recruitng is a lot of L’s and much fewer wins. It’s still an L, if the staff wanted him.  How impactful of an L we won’t know.

How do you or any of us really knows how much we want a recruit. Just because we reached out doesn't mean that we totally went all out for a recruit

Struggling to get recruits while looking at having a worse season. Seems like textbook lost momentum

When was the last time we saw meaningful amount of develop from our staffs. Crean would be my answer and that’s sad

On that’s status of “easier to sell to” regarding recruitments  and programs. Who has a better program between Indiana and Houston? Houston was a perennial dumpster for 40 years up until recently.

FYI - NIL top 10 numbers just came out from March Madness and Indiana had 3 or 4 of the top 10. Impressive.

3 of the top 10:

#9 JHS

#8 Berger

#5 TJD

This would seem to show that there is NIL money available at IU.

A lot the last couple of years. What does coaches before Woodson has to do with player development with these players. I would say TJD improved his overall game immensely the last two years. I thought JHS improved throughout the year. Galloway develop an outside shot last off season. I thought XJ really improved the last half of last year and if not for an injury would have gotten even better this year.  I saw improvement from Kopp this past year especially on the defensive end..

I get it some people with look at a glass half empty where others see the same glass as half full.  I just don't get why people 7 months from the season is already looking at things as doom and gloom.  For me looking at things like that would be a lousy way to live

There was a player a while back by the name of Trayce Jackson-Davis who developed into a player of the year under this staff.

TJD was a stud from day one.  How about a non contributor who became one layer in his career
