There are some programs that are popping up with seemingly every announcement as having "reached out".

The past couple of seasons 2 of those programs were Nebraska and Arkansas. I wonder if that trend will hold for those 2.

I'm sure we'll hit the transfer portal, but we also have a couple 5 stars on our team that we picked up when the coaches they committed to parted ways with the schools they were planning to attend.  There are a few different avenues to get players now and Woody has been really good at it so far.

Transfers are yet to inspire too much hope. We’ve publicly reached out to at least 3 by my count. None of them are bigs. Colored me concerned and interested, but also hopeful there is an ace or 2 up someone’s sleeve.

Who are the three?  I've heard Ledlum and Timberlake but who is #3?

Staff had a zoom with him, want to get him on campus.

  • Timberlake is a very, very efficient shooter. Two straight years at over 40% from three and over 80% from the line on high volume, with high minutes, and with defenses keying on him. Videos bear it out - great, repeatable shooting form with quick release.

Forget that this is a highlight reel from this year (of course every shot goes in). Just look at the shot form and release:

  • Full size, B1G ready body at 6'4", 205.
  • One year of eligibility - not optimum but would keep scholly free for loaded 2024 class.
  • Would be a two/three combo at IU.
  • Damn near every P5 team nationally is reaching out to Timberlake and Ledlum. So, every P5 fanbase is speculating about fit for these two and whether they'll get a campus visit.
  • Let's see if we get a campus visit. If we do, one would think one of these two is a real possibility

I would put him pretty high on my list so far....nice high release, so his shot really plays bigger than 6'4" (he can get it off over taller defenders because of the high release).  It is also very repeatable, no weird hitches in it, very smooth.  If we got him and Ledlum, that would be huge...obviously a long way to go on both and there will be a lot of interest so we would do well to get one, let alone both.

I would speculate that IU is looking at one guy for a portal wing and reaching out to a few qualified candidates to see which has high interest.

Next, I would strongly suspect that we are reaching out to, or have already reached out to a priority big. Especially one that can rim protect (more than create offense).

The latter should be priority 1 and what worries me about next year's roster more than anything.

We can multitask

I sure hope so.

But again,we have to get a defensive big with TDJ and RT gone. Malik will never be a defensive stopper.Get that and everything else is gravy.

Bigger names (pun intended) will start popping up as teams are steadily eliminated from the season ending tournaments.

Has anybody tried to estimate, how many D1 teams are not playing still.

This thread is about to get real popular lol.

Gotta think that if he's entering again, this time it is with the intention of leaving.

All numbers improved incrementally last year, except for free throws. He's not a lanky rim protector -- more like a Malik Reneau style skill set.
