Because it's not run very well. The way it was explained to me is if you donate a million dollars and say I want that money to go to the basketball program. Fred will take that money and use it wherever he needs it the most. Maybe the volleyball program needs a million to finish its facility. Uses it there and then scrambles to come up with another million to get back to the basketball program.

This is frustrating. I pray it’s not true. If I ran my business this way, I’d become insolvent very quickly.

I’m an IU guy through and through. Understand that. I have my degree from IU business school! I think UK IS $HIT! But UofL you sure hear about their Speed School of Engineering though. My point is look at the enrollment population at each of those schools vs IU. SMALL BUT THEY GET IT DONE! Let’s face it. We should but our panties are stuck in our crack! Pi$$es me off to the max!

I hear you Naples, and see your point.

The point I was originally trying to make was that the reason a UK/UL school smaller in size than IU throws money at coaches and their sports programs to perform at an elite level, is because that is their primary way of marketing the university. If their sports teams dropped to being irrelevant, what else do they have to keep them in the public conscious?

IU’s enrollment numbers you posted kind of support what I’m saying. We don’t NEED elite sports programs to remain relevant and attractive as a university because you’ve got Kelley School a top 10 B-school, O’Neil School (SPEA) the #1 public affairs graduate program in the nation, School of Journalism #7 in the world, and our Performing Arts Ballet historically #2 only behind Juliard.

Our enrollment isn’t as heavily reliant on being known for our sports teams. I don’t think the two universities from Kentucky can afford (no pun intended) NOT to spend big to keep athletics in the national spotlight, with them being the core marketable brand for the school and programs themselves. Wouldn’t trade the value of our Kelley degrees for a conference title though, so what can you do I guess.

You can’t have two post players in at the same time for extended periods that cannot step out and knock down a jumper or 3.

Having Justin out there at the same time compounds matters further adding another player that cannot shoot and cannot get space to use his strength and athleticism because there is no space

Why? TJD and Brunk play well together. The problem is when Smith is in the lineup with those two. That definitely clogs the middle because Smith has no outside game. Hunter primarily plays from 12ft out.

I’ve posted this before. But Archie runs an offense that purposeful clogs driving lanes. It’s why our offense is terrible and he continues running the same offense. Only have 1 big in, it might change. Just watch the video.

I guess, agree to disagree??

There are a few reputable ranking lists of the best academic institutions - Forbes, Princeton Review, Wall Street Journal - I’ll just give you one of the links. Scroll down a ways to get to Kentucky at #323 and Louisville a bit further down at #373.

UL does have bragging rights by a few spots over Taylor University over in Upland, IN though.

Comparing UK and UofL to IU is like comparing Phoenix University to Oxford.

If I wanted to go into farming or agriculture, I’d go to UK. If I wanted a diploma from a glorified community college, I’d go to UofL.

(Something I learned a long time ago living him Louisville, when your team sucks and there’s trash talk, go for the academics...down here they don’t really have a leg to stand on. Chances are they didn’t attend either of those schools anyway)

This 'film room' video is the negative equivalent of a recruit's highlight video where every shot goes in and the message board readers proclaim "Great shooting stroke!"

In other words;

  1. Show a series of anecdotal examples of drivers being hindered by IU post players, and
  2. Conclude "The offense is broken."

That is NOT to say that we have been efficient offensively (we haven't), or that a smaller lineup might not be  a good idea (depending on the opponent, it might be).

BUT, to say that a three-out, two-in offense can't work is nonsense.

It's not to suggest that 2 in 3 out can't work because it has for many, many years but the player movement has to be correct. In these cases it appears they are being instructed to go to the exact wrong spots.

Yeah, he said he thinks it's antiquated but never said it can't work.  He was mainly pointing out that we tend to have a big on the wrong block and it hinders everything.
